Ireland's Potato - Sunway Pyramid

Boy boy and I are potato lovers. Once we are in Sunway Pyramid, our choice of lunch definitely would be Pommes Frites Bistro that serves Belgian fries. So, one day, after having our lunch at Pommes Frites, we walked around the shopping complex. Before we depart from home, I insisted that I want to try the Ireland Potato. So, there we were, ordering one fries and one mashed potato.

The toppings are really hot as they microwave it before serving. It is filled with cheesiness and I love it!

Of course I have to compare the fries with Pommes Frites. Although both serve different texture of fries, Boy boy and I prefer Pommes Frites Belgian fries version. Belgian fries are softer while Ireland fries are harder. Nevertheless, I love them both!

Mashed potatos with meat toppings

I can't stop complimenting this mashed potato. The toppings are really addictive! I even took the fries and dip with this toppings. It was just so good! However, the texture of the mashed potato was a bit hard.

We went to Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 to get an early dinner before we proceed to Night Safari. This complex is not big, I doubt that we can find good food in this place. Bearing in mind that my mom and gu cheh (dad's sister) always prefer Chinese cuisine. We managed to find 2 chinese cuisine located side by side and we decided to try Dian Xiao Er. I am glad that we made the correct decision for trying this shop as the food was fairly good!

Old era settings

We were escorted inside by the waiter and we were impressed with the decorations and ambiance of the restaurant. It looks like we are back to the 1900s (or whatever era where the Wu Xia people exist). Wooden stools, brick wall, bamboo stand.

Dong Po Pork - Medium (SGD18.80)

The dong po pork is served with a layer of fats and a layer of lean meat. Both fats and meat are balanced equally. The sauce was sweet and just nicely done.

Fried Kailan - M (SGD14.80)

When this 2-styles kailan was served, I doubted the taste by looking at it, because it looks totally different from what we have here in Malaysia. The dish is served with chicken floss and sauce. In fact, I was wrong. The whole combination was very good indeed. The kailan was crunchy and the sauce mixed well with the chicken floss and fried kailan.

Mushroom & Vege - M (SGD18)

Normal mushroom and vege dish.

Ten WonderDuck - M (SGD23.80)

My dad couldn't resist not having duck since he saw the roast ducks hanging in front of the restaurant. The roast duck is very fragrant, it has strong herbs taste and I wish that the skin could be more crunchier though.

Overall, dad, mom and gu cheh was happy with the food.

Spent the whole day spring cleaning my room and ironing bucket of clothes. Very tired now but I still have the mood to blog. Went to Singapore to visit my bro and watched Wicked. It was awesome!

Bro brought us to this Chinese restaurant in 313 Somerset. It was 7.30pm and we got a table, so lucky! My bro says that you have Q for food in Singapore, literally any restaurants.

We were given a piece of paper and tick whatever we would like to order.

Hot Plate Tofu (SGD10.90)

The tofu was served in a sizzling plate and on top of a layer eggs.

Crisp Fried Prawn Roll (SGD8.90)

This was similar to our lobak. It tasted so-so.

Pork Bun + Pork Belly (SGD2.20 per piece)

The pork belly was well-marinated, slightly charred. The meat texture was well balance between the fats and the lean meat.

Wasabi Prawn (SGD16.90)

My bro strongly recommended this and indeed, it was pretty unique and it taste really good! The wasabi taste was not strong, it was slightly tint of wasabi. The prawn was fresh and eaten together with the mango pieces, it was an excellent dish! I would eat 10 plates of this!

Spare Ribs soup with winter melon (SGD17.90)

It seems that all the tables have a pot of soup, so my dad feels that it is a must to have the soup here. Yes, all 5 of us praised the soup. Very flavourful and not salty.

Stewed Egg Plant (SGD10.90)

This one was the least impressive dish of the night.

I will beg my bro to bring me here whenever I come to SG. I just super duper love the wasabi prawns! Btw, the food overall was really good.

Company Annual Dinner - Movie Night

My company annual dinner theme is MOVIE NIGHT. We get to dress up for movie characters. I just love annual dinners where I get a "permit" to shop!

The Research:

I have thought about Memoirs of Geisha and Red Ridding Hood which are simple to dress. However, the kimonos are very pricey, like RM300 for the whole thing. If I were to buy the kimono, I bet that I will wear once in my lifetime, which is on the annual dinner itself only. I just couldn't justify myself owning a kimono.

How about red ridding hood then? A simply red cloth wrap around my body will do. Now, where do I get the red cloth? I couldn't sew. It was like a week before the annual dinner and I can't find someone to sew the hood for me. Never mind, just give up.

My final decision?

Don't ask me how I ending up choose this movie, maybe it was from the costume surfing that I decided to go ahead with this movie: Moulin Rouge. It was a daring option where I have to wear corset and fishnet stockings! After some googling, I got a feel of how moulin rouge / burlesque costume looks like and I have listed down what I want.

The Preparation:

PY and I went to Time Square to search for the corset - an essential part of costume. We went to Offline Blogshop where Queen Chloset has displays there. Yup, being a frequent online shopper, must support other blogshop a bit.

There are a range of corsets available but limited sizes though. You know lar, I am fat at the waist part and small at boobs, so I couldn't decide whether size S or M. So, I kept on trying a few pieces, and PY kept on tying and untie the corsets for me. Poor her.

#1 Three different types of corsets I tried on

My initial design in mind was red / black combination and lace. The second corset matched my requirements. However, there was just too much gap on the boobs part (Ya, I have small boobs). The third corset fit my body but the colors are not so burlesque. Finally, I ended up with the sweet pink one.

After that, we went to I Shoppe to search for tutu skirt. The shop has a wide range of colorful tutu skirts ranging from RM38 onwards. I bought the cheapest black tutu skirt, bearing in mind that I would not be wearing it second time. I bought the black gloves from this shop too.

Slightly off topic a bit: I just need to comment that this I Shoppe in Time Square is freaking lansi (proud) of themselves. Even the sales girls (foreigners i presume) was very unfriendly and rude. They kept on showing faces to us when we are choosing the skirts and rushing us to buy the skirts. HELLO! Your shop has no other customers ok, we are not blocking your time or your space! Freaking give us customers a curtesy to decide ok.

Done complaining. Now I have done with my purchases.

Marufuku Jaya One

It was raining Friday night and I decided to use the deal I bought from Hahah for dinner. I have heard great reviews on Marufuku udon, that prompted me to purchase this deal. It was RM22 for 2 person.

#1 Edamame

We are digi users, as such we get to have the edamame for free. It was quite a big portion. This is the first time I noticed that the actual dish is bigger portion than the one shown in the picture.

#2 Kaarage (3 pieces of Japanese chicken nugget)

Lots of people rave about their Kaarage and I have high hopes on it. The coating was really flavourful with a tint of ginger, pepper and spices. I really would love to finish the whole plate but the oiliness put me off. If it was not so oily, I would have order an extra plate of this. I think this is their must-have dish as I spotted this kaarage on every table!

#3 Yakitori (2 sticks)

We get to choose 2 yakitori out of 8 different types of yakitori. The restaurant offer yakitori of various parts of the body. We chose the conventional one: black pepper chicken and soya sauce chicken. The soya sauce chicken yakitori was really good! Boy boy said it was sweet but to me it was really tasty. It is better than Kushi Q. The black pepper yakitori was nothing to shout about.

#4 Big Nabe hot pot

Now this is the star of the night. It came in a big claypot with various ingredients such as fresh vege, tofu, chicken and udon (udon came in a seperate bowl). The fish broth was not thick but it has all the essences of the ingredients. It made us keep on drinking the broth! For me who like to eat thick flavoured food, I would gladly say that I love this Nabe.

Oh, did I forgotten about the udon? which the restaurant is famous for. We poured the udon into the claypot and cook it for a minute. The udon has a spingy texture and it was good.

#5 Dango Japanese dessert

Red bean is not my favourite food, so I can't really comment on this. It was just so-so.

During our dining period, we were served well by the waitress. She patiently explained to us what the deal includes and what are the options. She cleaned our table once we finished the food. She refill our green tea without us asking. When we wanted to leave, she asked how was the food and I delightfully told her that the Nabe was delicious. Now, that's what I called GOOD SERVICE!

We would definately come back here to try out their other varieties.

Bali: Free n Easy at South Kuta

After the massage, our driver sent us to our next hotel located at South Kuta beach. Once we have checked in, we went to the beach. It was Sunday, as such the beach was full with locals.

#1 Look at the amount of people at the beach. No hot chicks. Boy boy was disappointed.

#2 Signature black sand in Kuta. (actually I just wanna show off my pedicure)

#3 We didnt go for the swim though. We just sat there and relax and watch sun set. And yet the sun set behind the clouds and not the sealine. >.<

We went for a restaurant nearby for western food dinner. I told Boy boy that I couldn't take Balinese food anymore, it is just not my taste. The dinning place was filled with foreigners. It took 1 hour for our food to be served. So freaking hungry. Well, the food was nothing to shout about.

The next day and our last day in Bali, it was free and easy. We had our breakfast in our hotel (which was freaking awesome), and started walking. Within 5 minutes, Boy boy's slippers gave up on him. So we went to a nearby shop to buy a slippers. It was just a normal pair of Japanese slippers and the fella priced it at approx RM60. Definately con the tourists 1!

But we had no choice as we had whole lot of walking today. We bargained until approx RM30, which we thought it was still overpriced. That fella asked Boy boy to give him his Nike slipper. Siao (crazy) la! Who on earth wanna give you the Nike slipper. It is not a trade-in ok.

So, we starting walking towards North. Bali is a tourist friendly place but not the roads. The side roads are filled with pot holes, uneven level etc. Make it so difficult to walk.

After some walking, we chose this spa place called Melasti Spa along the road since it was 50% off. Although the view is not as good as Ubud, but the place is definately cleaner and more aroma smell, which was relaxing.

#4 Satisfied customer

The spa here is slightly more expensive than Ubud. I just don't know whether to find the cheap cheap ones like what other people has found.

After that, we went into one of the mall to find some food. The lunch was not good (will blog about it in another post). So we decided to hunt for ice cream and this is what we found in the mall.

#5 Sitting in front of the Sour Sally shop.

#6 Definately very sour, tasty for Boy boy who loves to eat sour food.

After finished eating the ice cream and people watching for like 40 minutes. We walked to the back of the mall and discovered that there is actually a decent road along the beach that stretches quite far, from South to North.

#7 Again, no sunset.

So, we walked along the beach back to our hotel, like 30 minutes walk.

That ends our Bali trip.

Chicago Rib House - One Utama

Dad saw the opening promotion for Chicago Rib House on The Star. The promotion is get the 2nd full slab ribs at 50% off. That immediately drew his attention and determination to go this place located at One Utama shopping complex. Normally he is very reluctant to go to shopping complex at night due to the difficulty in finding a parking. Nevertheless, the advertisement has captured his attention.

I made a reservation in the afternoon and I strongly recommend you to do that as the restaurant was full at 7.30pm. Based on the decorations and pictures on the wall, you knew that it is a porky place. Sorry for my Muslim friends.

The special opening promotion includes RM3 Mojito.

We ordered potato skin (RM14.90) for 6 pieces. Boy boy could enjoy this as pork bacon is used (other potato skin uses beef). My parents love the taste of this potato skin albeit the not-so-crunchy skin. I benchmarked it against Jakes' potato skin and I could say that Jakes still serves the best potato skin.

Chicago Rib House version was not bad either, it has the cheese aroma and the pork bacon added flavour to it. The dipping sauce was good too.

Dad ordered banana milkshake (RM9). Very thick and very sweet. My sis would love it.

We ordered a full slab pork ribs with bourbon sauce (RM59) with fries and coleslaw. The ribs are huge and tender. My dad kept on saying that the sauce was not strong enough. My mom and I did taste the sauce and love it. The meat fell off the bone easily. The coleslaw portion was too small.

Another full slab pork ribs original sauce (RM53 less 50% = RM25). Dad preferred this version. However, the meat was not as tender as the previous ribs.

My parents and Boy boy enjoyed the dinner very much especially my dad. He said that he definitely will come back and try out other dishes and he will bring my sis and bro along too. I would prefer this restaurant as well compared to Chillis where the Q is always freaking long in One Utama.

The only downside was the service. We asked the waiter to pack the bones, he took it and never came back. So, no bones for my dogs. We asked to change a fork (as it was dirty) and it took him 10 minutes to come back with the fork. We asked for bill, and took them another 10 minutes to bring the bill. However, it is forgivable as they just opened the restaurant and needed time to suit themselves.

Bali: Ibu Oka Babi Guling and Venezia Spa

The next morning, we checked out from our hotel and went to Ibu Oka Babi Guling. We reached there at 11am sharp and there were some customers already. We took a table whereby we sat on the floor.

#1 Pardon my no-makeup face as we need to go for massage later.

The menu is limited and you would only choose Babi Guling (like 'duh'). During my stay in Bali, I am not a fan of the side dishes of their nasi campur, and I still am. For the babi guling, it has some gluey texture and the skin is not as crunchy as I expected. The pork also has the porky smell. I still prefer our Chinese roast pork anytime.

The room is spacious and has 2 showers and bath tub. It has a slight view of the paddy field. We didnt get to utilize the bath tub as we did not choose the jacuzzi package. It was RM65 for 2 hours of massage and 20 minutes mandi lulur.

#6 Messy hair after massage

Venezia Spa has lots of massage room and massageur. The lady has no strength for massage. The bed has some kind of smell, which to me was not hygienic enough. Maybe I will try other massage place when I am there next time.

Bali: Tegallalang and Bebek Bengil

After the disappointment at Kintamani, we went to Tegallalang rice terrace. Mr Made dropped us off at a secluded area and he brought us to walk a narrow path and there we were, gorgeous rice terrace. Love the greens!

See, no crowd! Because it is a secret place that Mr Made has discovered himself!

We took our time and take lots of pictures. The disadvantage is that the path is really small, so we have to be careful while taking the photos and get a good angle.

When you are in Bali, engage Mr Made and you will get this private Tegallalang view!

After the secret path, we moved further and there you see, another rice terrace which is a tourist spot, full of people, full of cars and no parking. The following picture was taken when we were in the car passing the place. Not much differences from Mr Made's secret path, right?

That was the end of our sight seeing trip. Mr Made sent us back to our hotel. After resting for awhile, we took the shuttle from the hotel to ubud town and search for Bebek Bengil Dirty Duck diner, a very famous restaurant in Ubud.

We ordered Nasi Campur Bebek and one half-duck rice. I think I am not use to Balinese nasi campur as I found myself not finishing all the side dishes. The flavour was just not my taste.

However, the crispy duck was absolutely spot on. The small bones were really crispy and crunchy. For boy boy who loves to eat bones, he enjoyed the duck very much. And for me, after trying the first small bone, it was unstoppable, I kept on finding small bones and eat. Very very addictive.

Very dark lighting. So have to use flash. May I say, it was romantic too because of the environment? (but got mosquitoes bite me lor).

Well, the dinner was not cheap (approximately RM70 for 2) but I would say it was very worth it. You could not get a more crispier duck in Malaysia. This dirty duck would be signature meal in Ubud. Love it to bits!

Bali: Kintamani and Kopi Luwak

After departing from Gunung Kawi at Tampaksiring, we went up to Kintamani to see Mount Batur, an active volcano. Have to pay a small entrance fee while going up. We didn't go to Puncak Sari, a restaurant recommended by bloggers as the price is the cheapest among all the restaurant. We went to the one beside instead, and I have forgotten the name of the restaurant. =.=" But never mind, the food was nothing spectacular though and it was quite pricey, around RM45 per person.

We reach the restaurant at 12pm and we were the first customer. I tried to bargain about the price but she said it is already discounted as we are the first customer.

I was quite disappointed as it was really foggy that day.

No, that is not Mount Batur. It is still behind the fog.

After waited for 1 hour, we managed to see the bottom of Mount Batur. Hoping that the fog will disappear but it didn't.

We waited until 2pm and we gave up finally. It seems that luck was really not on my side during this trip: didn't get to see sunsetting at the sea border and didn't get to see Mount Bratur. But, never mind, there will always be next time and a reason for me to come to bali. :-)

After that, we stopped by a coffee plantation for Kopi Luwak, the famous and expensive coffee in Bali, perhaps the world.

Wiki says:

"Kopi luwak (Malay pronunciation: [ˈkopi ˈlu.aʔ]), or civet coffee, is one of the world's most expensive and low-production varieties of coffee. It is made from the beans of coffee berries which have been eaten by the Asian Palm Civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus) and other related civets, then passed through its digestive tract."

We were given 3 coffees and 2 teas for tasting - complementary.

We added on a cup of Kopi Luwak for around RM18 (I think) for a small cup.

I am not a coffee person, so it will be unfair for me to give comments on the Kopi Luwak. I did take a sip.

Boy boy said he likes it. So we bought 2x500g back home.

Bali: Gunung Kawi Temple

Around 9am, Mr Made picked us from our hotel and start our day trip in Ubud. On the way, Mr Made used the scenic road instead of 'highway' up. He dropped us at one of the scenic road for us to have a short walk while enjoying the rice field. So Boy boy and I had a morning walk, sort of pak toh-ing for both of us.

The villagers were very friendly. All of them with motorbike passed by and wished us "good morning". I was shocked at their friendly-ness. Mr Made said this is what you find in Ubud village, where the villagers respect the tourists.

I love "greeneries" (green + scenery).

1 of the temple in the village having a ceremony. As I was wearing shorts, we are not able to go inside and visit and see the ceremony. The next time when I go bali, I must bring along my pareo.

Bali: Tanah Lot

Approximately 1 week before my departure to Bali, I panic-ly searched for a Bali personal driver. After going through some of the personal driver website and sent 3 emails to inquire about the prices. I finally chose Mr Made Piring. The reason I chose him was because he gave suggestions on my itinerary. I didn't have much time to plan my Bali trip as I was quite busy during that period. Furthermore, Boy boy wanted a relaxing trip and I wanted a sight seeing trip. So I have divide the time to 50% sight seeing and 50% free and easy, which was quite challenging for a 4 days 3 nights trip.

After many emails with Mr Made for the next 3 days, finally I met him in Bali airport. He greeted us with a big smile (which was his signature smile btw) and a warm welcome. He speaks very good English and very friendly.

It was 4pm by the time we reached Tanah Lot. We chose a restaurant to have our very late lunch. I chose Nasi Campur while Boy boy chose Nasi Goreng.

Both tasted funny to me. Maybe I am not into Balinese food. But nevertheless, it did fill up my hunger.

Towards 6pm, there are a lot of people gathered to see the sunset. We chose a place high up and waited for the sunset. To my disappointment, the sun set behind the clouds, and not at the sea borderline. Hm..... a bit sad.

After the sun set completely, we left the place and Mr Made sent us to our hotel in Ubud. Will write about our hotel, Y Resort later.

this is the 1st time i am eating fried porridge. when it was served, i already can smell the fragrant emitted by the claypot porridge itself. it is golden brown with dry sotong, pork lard, chicken pieces.

i find that it is very flavourful. i actually like it but boy boy said so-so only. well, i might need to try out other version of fried porridge to get my benchmark.

Opps, I know I have been lagging for quite some time. See, I have loaded pictures into my blogspot but yet lazy to blog about. Apologies to my readers.

Let me continue from my Singapore adventure. After dinner at Soup Spoon, my bro brought me to Max Brenner Chocolate Bar at VivoCity. We just ordered their famous Chocolate Souffle. Around SGD14 I think.

I remember when I watch Master Chef series, one of the competition was to make souffle and the judges said that souffle must served within 20 seconds (I forgotten the exact timing) after taking it out from the oven. If not, the top part will fall off. So, after this souffle was served on my table, I quickly took 2 photos and dug into it.

The molten chocolate did not flow out, but was rich and thick and sticky within the cake. Honestly speaking, I have not tried souffle before, so I has nothing to benchmark against. But to me, it was very very delicious. The cake was warm and moist and the chocolate was heaven! Nothing compare to the normal chocolate that I have eaten before.

Be warned that it is extremely chocolatety. If you are not a chocolate lover, please share this with another friend or friends. But I think my sis will love this to the max.

The Soup Spoon

Brother introduced me Soup Spoon. You guess it right, it is a restaurant famous for its soup. Since it was still early, around 6.15pm, we need not to Q up, we just managed to find one. After finding a table, you need to go to the counter to order your food.

Mushroom soup. Very big bowl and rich in texture. Not as thick as Marche per se, but rich enough for a mushroom soup lover. Lots of mushroom in it and you can finish one bowl by yourselves. It comes with a bun for you to dip in. A very good recommendation indeed by brother.

We ordered a Beef Goulash. Now, not many restaurant serves delicious beef goulash, and this version just does not meet my expectation. Very tomato-ish, I dislike. Lots of beef chunks though.

Chicken Tikka. It came as a set with the soup. Alternatively, you may choose Caesar Salad or Tuna Sandwich (if I am not mistaken). This chicken marinated with some curry powder and wrapped with the pita bread. The bread was soggy and chicken tasted weird. Something that me and my bro could not finish.

Kalamazoo Cafe - Aman Suria

Actually buying the group vouchers online make it easy for me to decide where to eat whenever Boy boy ask me. I am so addicted to these group buys now, be it facial, spa, massage, mani, food etc, all I wanna buy. Hehe.

Btw, bought the Kalamazoo voucher for RM25.90 from Hahah. The deal is for 2 which is quite worth it. Flash my digi icon to get a free upgrade to milkshake! I chose strawberry and Boy boy chose chocolate. Both are rich and creamy, love it! The deal comes with the apple slaw which has a refreshing taste.

Garlic bread, very buttery but lack of garlic taste. It was crunchy indeed.

Pumpkin soup. Tasted powdery, I wonder pumpkin soups are like that. Tastewise ok. And Boy boy's bowl of soup has a strand of hair in it. =.="

Signature Pork Burger. The burger quite small but Boy boy has no complain on it.

Signature Beef Meatloaf. I have high expectation on this dish because of the good reviews. But the moment I ate it, I was quite disappointed. It was not the taste that has fault but the texture of the meat. I think the blend the tendon as well, every single bite I took, I had some chewy type of thing in it, made it not so eatable, I dont like. I tabao one piece back home. Could not force myself to finish it.

The Hahah deal hits the certain transaction, and we get to have a brownie with ice cream! The brownie was small piece and it was very dry.

For the amount of money that I paid, I have no complain about the quantity of the food except for the strand of hair and the beef meatloaf. I will still go back and try other dishes but not the meatloaf.

Freshly Baked by Le Bijoux @ Killiney Road

Found this shop that offers american breakfast from KampungBoyCityGal, so we went there. At first we thought it would be packed with people as my brother always says that "in singapore, ppl always Q-up for food and the Q is freaking long!". But this was not the case, the cafe is a small one but not many people (as you can see from my picture below).

The cafe smells of BREAD! Freshly-baked bread! Hm.....

I ordered BLT (SGD6.90) that consists of bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado. If you do not eat avocado, not to worry as the has made it into the 'butter' avocado, not that strong taste. Bacon was nice and crunchy and I wished that they could give more. The bread was so soft but the skin was abit hard, I has difficulty eating the skin. Nevertheless, it was a healthy breakfast.

My bro ordered a breakfast set (I think is around SGD13.90) that consists of spicy sausage, lettuce, tomato, scrambled egg and 2 pieces of bread. The moment my bro ate the scrambled egg, he immediately complimented it! He said it was very good. The breads were so soft and the skin was crunchy. I love the chocolate one. The sausage was well-flavoured, slightly spicy and aromatic. Not bad.

My bro said he will bring his friends for breakfast here next time. He also complimented that KBCG are great food-taster.

Hog's Breath @ Chijmes

Found out from Kampungboycitygal blog that there is a Hog's Breath Cafe in Singapore. We were so excited as we had this in Brisbane Australia few years ago and we really love it.

After picking me up from the airport, we went straight to Chijmes. The direction was unclear and we were quite confuse with the signages, but we managed to find it. The Chijmes has lots of restaurants and pubs in it but was not crowded at all.

After we placed order for our food, it came in 5 minutes time, which was lighting speed!

I ordered pork ribs (SGD28 plus I think). The sauce was too sour for my liking, it has the BBQ flavour but it was just too sour. The curly fries were really good though. The portion was small but the ribs were tender.

Bro ordered the steak in mushroom sauce (RM30 plus I think). The steak was really tender, just medium-well, as requested by my bro. Love it! The mashed potato was really buttery, nice!

I wanna come again for other pork dishes! (but definately not the pork ribs).

My Singapore Trip

I bought AirAsia zero to Singapore last December, and finally 1st July has arrived. Stayed at my bro's place for 2 nights. Didn't buy much clothing as I have spent a lot of money in Bangkok in June.

We went for Lion King musical on Saturday at Marina Bay Sands. The first time we watched Lion King was in Australia years ago and we were seated at the second tier, which was very far from the stage. So this time, we (actually was a my brother's treat) managed to buy the bottom tier and 10th row from the stage, eye-level to the stage. We saw clearly all the actors/actress expressions.

They have included some local (Singapore) conversation in the musical. You gotta watch it yourselves. I love the young Nala (the girl is so talented! and her voice was amazing!), Zazu the Hornbill, Timon the meerkat and Pumba the warthog. They were so entertaining! Love their stage presence.

Both of us enjoyed the show, the characters, the songs, everything was perfect. The only complain was the was a bit small, the 'animals' were cramped on the stage. If the giraffes are on the stage, the elephants would be missing and vice-versa.

I would strongly recommend you guys to watch it! no regrets!

After the show, we walked around the area to take some photos. Oh, we went into the casino too! but we didnt gamble lar. My bro asked me to try my first timer luck and he wanna sponsored me SD100. But I didnt wanna waste his hard-earn money. :)

We walked back using the bridge.

That was all my sight seeing in Singapore (**gasp!**) in such a short trip. Of course we did went to some makan-makan places, will upload the posts soon.

Chyniis - SS Two Mall

I decided to treat my family to a Chinese cuisine on my birthday. I have chosen Chyniis after reading numerous good reviews. Apparently its chef came from GreenView, who is famous for Sang Har Mien as well. I do not find GreenView sang har mien any spectacular, but I wanted to try out this Chyniis version since some of the reviews said it is better than GV.

The restaurant is quite high class, almost like a hotel standard Chinese restaurant. Very nice lighting, seating arrangement is well-spaced. The waiter and waitress are courteous.

Crispy Pork Belly with Cuttlefish (RM24). Well, you can only see the cuttlefish staggering in this pictures. The pork belly slices were at the bottom. The cuttlefish was coated with some sticky sauce, the texture was good but there is a slight fishy taste. The pork belly was crispy, it is like eating fried bacon, which I like.

Chyniis Sang Har Mee (6.5x100g@RM15 = RM97.50). We ordered 3 big prawns with 3 portion mee, which obviously was too much for the 5 of us. All of us enjoyed this dish. Obviously, it was better than GV. The prawns were very fresh and the sauce was nicely done and flavourful. Next time, I will come to just eat this sang har mee.

Steamed Talapia with plum sauce (14x100g@4.50 = RM63). My dad enjoyed the fried bone part, he ate it alot until too full to eat the fillet. The plum sauce was sweet and mix well with the fish.

Hot and Spicy Chilli Indo Crab (1.35kg@70 = RM94.50). This was one of their signature dish. I have high expectation on this but it let me down. The sauce was not as thick as King Crab. It was slightly on the sourish side. We have no complain on the size of the crab coz it has a lot of meat.

House Special Handmade Bun (RM1 per piece). The fried mantao was very crispy. Love the outer texture which was crispy but inner texture harder than King Crab. Hm... I am in a dilemma here, which one is better? Well, both have its own merits. I love both!

Tidbits (Prawn) @ RM6 per plate, Jasmine tea @ RM2.50 per pax, rice @ RM2.30 per bowl, service tax @ 10% but no government tax. Waiters were very attentive, they poured tea (not even once we had to refill ourselves), changed our plates even we didnt ask them. Very good service.

The only thing I wanted to complain is that the captain who took our order was not professional in handling orders. He dont advise us whether the food we order is too much. As long as you keep ordering, he will keep on writing down the orders. I know you are trying to get more business for the restaurant, but please do it professionally. In my opinion, a good captain is able to advise you accordingly the portion that you order i.e choose the right size of fish, choose the right amount of crab etc. The food that night was really too much until we tabao almost 3/4 of the fish.

Overall, this is a nice place to have Chinese food. Price is reasonable IF you do not order any seafood or fish.

Yut Kee - Dang Wangi

Got some free tickets from Nuffnang, so PY and I went to their office on Friday lunch time. Their office is so happened to be at Dang Wangi, and you know what food is famous there? YUT KEE! The ever so famous shop that serve Roti Babi, Pork Chop and Roast Pork Roll (Siu York). But according to numerous blog reviews, they say that roti babi and roast pork roll always sold out by 12.30pm. =.="

After collecting the tickets, we reached Yut Kee around 1.15pm and indeed, it was a lot of people waiting. Fret not, you just need to tell the boss how many person you have, then he will arrange accordingly. He will not forget about you, so don't worry.

We were seated 3minutes later, which was fast! I think because other people have like 5-6 persons. We placed our orders for Roti Babi, Pork Chop and Dry Beef Noodles. Ya, their Siu Yok was sold out.

The food was served 5 minutes later. With very high expectation, we ate the Roti Babi (RM8) first. By the look of PY, I know something is not right. The moment I took a bite and looked at her. I think both of us are having the same thoughts: nothing special about it. The feelings were bland, the bread was slight oily.

We ate the Pork Chop (RM10), again we kinda agreed with each other: so-so. The brown sauce was bland, and kinda diluted. Although the pork was soft, it still doesnt justify the price tag.

The dry beef noodles: you can get better one else where.

Feeling really not satisfied, and since they are famous for their kaya roll (which was sold out as well), we ordered the Toast (RM2.40) just to try out the kaya. The kaya was not bad though, not too sweet, just nice. Both of us bought a can of kaya each (RM4).

The service was excellent! The foreign staffs were very very attentive, on par with some higher class restaurant. I even asked a staff what is inside the box where a lot of people tabao-ing. He has patience to explain to me it is butter cake, the price as well as they are famous for kaya roll etc.

Besides the service given, I couldnt not find any other compliments for Yut Kee. I think it is an over-rated shop. For a person who prefer heavy taste like me, dont find it nice, while for a person who prefer lighter taste like PY, dont find it nice either.

If you were to ask me to drive all the way down here to eat the pork chop or roti babi again, I wouldnt want to. Both of us are quite disappointed. Maybe we will try the sambal belacan fried rice, which again a lot of people say it is nice.

I think I am gonna get lots of haters for writing this post. But man, it is just my personal opinion.

Tao Japanese Buffet - Sunway Giza

Is the time of the year again! Getting younger by another year! woo hoo! Let's see what I wore on my big day. I bought the dress online, what do you think? Not to forget the owl necklace that I bought from my neighbour booth during a bazaar. It is good to be in the fashion business where you get to meet different people. I totally love Kim's collection of accessories with affordable pricing too. She is very friendly, and I have met her few times in bazaars.

Boy boy and I celebrated my birthday at Tao Japanese Buffet. It was my second time there. They are having promotion for May babies - 50% off!

A foreign lady came and took our orders, her English was a bit difficult to understand. I asked about the Top 10 items and I thought she will explain her Top 10 items to me, but she just asked whether do we prefer lamb or beef. She took our order for drinks and walked off. So I dont know whether she put our order for Top 10 or not. She didnt even explain to me what is the Top 10.

The above are the Top 10 items. I slightly regretted that why I didnt insist her to describe the Top 10, because I do not eat grilled salmon, bamboo clam and oyster. So it was a waste. My all time favourite would be the first 2 items: scallop and abalone slices. I ate like 8 pieces of the scallops, hehe, you must eat it while it is hot. I like the prawns (last row left) and the popia-thingy (third row right). Other than that, it was so-so. The chicken not worth ordering.

While we were resting our stomach, suddenly the waiter came and put 4 dishes on our table. I was shocked (bearing in mind that I didnt really count the 10 items ya), because I thought I have ate 10 items. I asked, "top 10 ar?". He said yes.

While we were eating the above, I switched on my camera and count the dishes. The above four was definately not ordered by us lor. The tempura was not good, dont order. But the abolone soup was really nice and rich.

We had some sashimi from the counter. We didnt try the tepanyaki coz it was not good when the first time I had it. We were quite full. Actually I was quite mad when they served us the 'extra' 4 items lor. I didnt get the chance to try out something that I want.

When we finished the ice cream, Boy boy suddenly said, "here no line wor, my dealer called me, I go out return call first". Then I said ok. While waiting for him, suddenly it strike my mind whether is he gonna propose to me. Maybe he has gone to his car to take the flowers and ring. Then my heartbeat started to increase. OMG OMG OMG, what should I react if he propose? I panic.

10 minutes later, he came back ..... empty hand.

ya....no surprise proposal.

No lar, he didnt hit me or punch me. No worries.

He waited for me for 5-10minutes and he got pissed off.

I already apologized when I entered his car. I dont think he accepted my apology.

He was quiet the whole day.

Tried talking to him but it was mono-log.

His face was so 'black'. I am so scared.

Whenever he is angry, he is always like that.

This is not the first time.

I think the more he ages, the fiercer he gets.

Bangkok Wasabe - Dataran Sunway

Ventured into this restaurant for some cravings of Thai food. The restaurant is located near Sunway Giza but not on the main road. Their row is quite not-happening and there is ample parking space.

We were seated under the air-con, super freezing, yet I still ordered Thai Tea, which was really good. If you are not on the sweet stuff, do not order this coz it is very sweet, but I like it. With the sugar, milk and tea, it was really fragrant!

We ordered seafood tomyam. The fire didnt last long, it went cold after 20 minutes of eating, somemore we were under the air con. So towards finishing it, the soup was really sourish. The tomyam soup was so-so, not bad and not good. Standard.

I ordered Glutinous rice with mango. Call me a jakun or what so ever, this is actually the first time I am eating this dessert. Other places all priced it very expensive but this place, it was affordable. The glutinous rice was not so sticky, just nice, mix with the milk and mango, it was a good dessert to finish the meal.

Although nothing spectacular, I still think is worth my second visit to try out its other stuffs. In addition, the staffs are friendly and polite, very good service. The price was not steep too, very affordable.

100C steamboat - USJ 19 Citymall

Suyin suggested to dine in USJ 19 Citymall while I can check out the bazaar. I need to survey some good bazaar location so that I can participate. It was a rainy day, the bazaar was quite empty and the shops were not so attractive.

We chose 100c steamboat. This restaurant rang a bell in me as I can fairly remember it is the same restaurant in NZX last time and I heard some negative comments on it back then. Indeed it was the same restaurant as after dinner I went back and google search it, the logo is the same.

Erm, I forgotten what is this dish called liao as it was recommended by suyin. It a bread stuffs with fish paste grilled with massive amount of cheese if I am not mistaken. The taste was good, but I do hope that they can burn the cheese more and add more garlic to it.

We ordered a 3-5 person set (RM60 something). A warning to you guys, do not attempt to order this set if you are dining 3 person, the portion was freaking huge even 4 of us could not finish it. They were very generous with the amount. Ingredients were fresh too.

There are a few type of soup that you can choose. So 2 of us chose fish head soup and 2 of us chose pumpkin porridge. I think the soup was full of MSG as I finished my drink (big glass of it ok) half way dining. Seriously. Cant they lower down the MSG? Super thirsty the whole night.

There are a lot of condiments for you to choose.

They have tatami seating. It was indeed unique but I dont like the fact that there is nothing for me to lye to the back, I have back sore while dining. Service was un-attentive too.

Minmax - PNB Darby Park

What do you think of dim sum without pork? Well, it is halal dim sum served in Minmax. Decided to give it a try since there are some good reviews on it and near to by office too. It was the week after the CNY finishes and we decided to go there.

I know it would be packed during lunch time, so I called and tried to make a reservation. The guy who picked up my phone was very rude, he kept on saying that he couldnt hear me even I am shouting to my phone. He said no need reservation for 3 people, just walk in will do.

So we went there, the restaurant was very crowded. The guy who attended to us was the same guy who picked up my call (I can recognise his voice). He asked us to wait around 30 minutes for table and asked why we didnt make reservation. When I wanted to fire him back, AL took the lead and said that he was the one who didnt let us make a reservation. His attitude was very bad. PY and AL keep on talking back to him. I just kept quiet because I know if I were to open my mouth and complain, the restaurant and hear my voice.

We waited outside and true enough, we were seated 30 minutes later. A captain (another captain-level guy) gave us a dim sum menu and he was waiting for us to order. We told him that we will take a look at the menu first. He walked off. Before we came, Annie told me that we have to order the fried teochew mee but we couldnt see it in the menu. We called the captain to gave us another menu, he 'black' his face, walked to the counter, took the menu, and slammed it on our table, "PAKKK!". What the hell! This restaurant is really testing my patience.

We kept our calm and ordered a fried mee and some dim sums. It took quite awhile for them to serve. This was our fried mee. It was not oily and the taste was just right.

This fried beancurd thingy was a failure. The sauce (pepperish sauce) does not even match the bean curd. For a pepper person like me, the sauce to me was very weird. I wonder how they come out with such combination.

We ordered prawn dumplings, siu mai and fu chuk. All three dishes were nicely done. Siu Mai without pork was good as well. The prawn dumplings have big chunks of prawns in it. The steamed fu chuk was very good as well.

Fried prawn fu chuk. Another good fried stuff, but a bit oily.

Loh Mai Kai (Chicken glutinous rice). Very soft and the taste was good.

That day, the restaurant has a few tables booked for some tour buses that fetches the youngsters. We suspected it is from some outskirt area college students coz the way they dressed was out of the world and it is not even fashion (what fashion to talk about when we can obviously see your whole bra from the side). Despite that, they were extremely noisy! Until the a lady beside our table told the owner (I assumed she is the owner coz she was not in uniform but collecting money) to asked these immature kids to keep quiet because they are annoying.

Well, I can say I enjoy the food, but with this type of service that this restaurant gave me, I would not return there again. I can find elsewhere that serve much better dim sums. Oh, did I mentioned that the dim sum price starting from RM3.90 and above? Still dare to charge me service tax some more!

Champs - Centerpoint

Went to Centerpoint to search for food and decided to try the infamous prawn mee in Champs.

It was 12 noon and the restaurant was quite empty. Boy boy tried the prawn mee (RM20.90). They gave quite big pieces of prawns and big chunks of pork ribs. For the hefty price tag, what I could say is that it is not worth it. I find the prawn mee served in other hawker stalls are much better. The chunks of pork ribs were so tough to chew on and the broth was nothing fantastic either.

I ordered Shanghai Pork Chop (RM18.90). It came with 3 big pieces of pork chops. The pork chops were juicy but the sauce was very very sweet. I could not eat it just like that, I have eat it with the rice. Very geli when the sauce are overly sweet.

I dont think I will come back for a second visit. Nothing to shout about.

Tang Shifu - Damansara Uptown

Round n round Damansara Uptown to look for lunch place and stumbled around this restaurant that serves various type of healthy soup. Once we step in, it look like a 5-star restaurant, the tables, chairs and decoration was really nice. But then, I started to worry about the pricing. Luckily, the pricing was not that scary lar.

Dry scallop brown rice porridge with huaishan set (RM13.90). I ordered this as I prefer something light, and I super love mulberry and this set has a lot! Only order this if you are brown rice person. The scallops was tiny but not fishy. Quite a healthy food lor. The 2 side dishes i.e braised pork and black bean was so-so only, bland and nothing special. I would omit this 2 side dishes and take the ala-carte porridge next time.

Shiquan Mee Suah with Ginseng and fish maw set (RM20.90). The Mee Sua was very delicious, dont be deceived by the look of it. It was springy and the broth was really full of flavour. While Boy boy enjoy his pot of herbal soup, I dont like it as I am not a herbal person.

The Mee Sua is a definite must-try dish when you visit.

I remember there are a few outlets in Plaza Kelana Jaya that I have yet to try. So Boy Boy and I went there on a Sunday night 8pm. The Secret of Louisiana has lots of tables (more than 20) arranged outside its restaurant and beside the lake. Nicely canopied.

I know that this restaurant was always full house, but that time the tables were half full, so we tried our luck and asked the waiter whether there is a table for 2 of us. He said the front area is all reserved, but there are some tables at the back. So we said ok.

The light in that area was very dim. I hate dim ambiance as I cant see things (ya, I am exaggerating). Boy boy said "romantic muh". I said no, if romantic then ask them to lit up a candle then mai romantic lor. As if the the waiter can read my mind, he quickly switch on the lights. :P

We decided to order appetizer, soup, main course and dessert for sharing. The service was prompt and the waiters were all very polite.

Fresh and wild mushroom soup (RM13.90). Very creamy and found a few pieces of button mushroom in it, other mushrooms were all blended together. I dont think the bread is garlic bread, coz it has no garlic taste, I assumed it was just a normal butter bread, nothing special, not crunchy enough.

Garlic Cheese Baked Escargot (RM20.90). There was 6 pieces of it. I don't quite like the cheese on top as it was geared towards Carbonara taste and the cheese was not burned enough. I am benchmarking these escargot with The Ship or Victoria's version ya. Not garlic-ky enough. Very 'jelak' after eating the cheese.

Rack of Lamb (RM42.90). The lamb was cook to just nice, very tender and not the chewy type. Boy boy just use his hand and took a rack to eat. Taste was good.

Louisiana's Mud Pie (RM16.90). When I see the word 'Mud Pie', I quickly ordered this as I have been missing Chillis' Mud Pie (I dont know why they dont serve it anymore). Again, I benchmark this against Chillis. Louisiana's version is no where near Chillis' mud pie, it looks like a chocolate brownie with ice cream, that's it. Not that it was not good, it was delicious for a brownie. But I was just disappointed with the name.

Tai-O, Hong Kong

After seeing the Giant Buddha, my dad wanna go to Tai-O, a fishing village in Lantau Island as well. It was really convenient as the Bus Stop is just outside the Ngong Ping 360 area. Easy to spot the bus to Tai-O as well. Using our Octopus card, it was really easy.

It took around 15-20 minutes to reach Tai-O. We dont know how to walk but there was a map just near the bus stop, so we followed the map and walked.

We walked around the village. There are several seafood restaurant around. Some does not display the prices, so we decided to forgo these type of restaurants. We walked into one seafood restaurant that has price and set meal. The most important thing is that the restaurant was quite full house.

We took the value meal with 3 dishes.

The scallop dish. The size of the scallop was ok, not big and not too small. The taste was there, but I find the garlic was a bit too hard to chew as well as the vermicelli.

Squid paste. This was quite a big plate. It was fresh and the texture was good. Just the chilli not nice, weird taste.

Steam fish. Normal, fresh.

I managed to buy the 'mak ya tong' biscuit. Super duper sticky.

Tai-O is a place to go if you wanna have fresh seafood.

Lantau Island - Hong Kong

We took the MTR and reached Tung Chung MTR station. Then we walked to the Ngong Ping 360 cable car station. We bought a ticket that consists of cable car ride (return), "walking with buddha" show and "monkey's tale theater" show. The first show was indeed good as it tells the story of buddha but the second show was a waste of money and time.

There are 2 types of cable car, one is the normal one and one is Crystal Cabin where there is a glass at the bottom and you can look down. Of course the Crystal Cabin comes in a higher price. We took the normal cable car. The ride took around 20 minutes, but it was indeed very steep and scary.

Ngong Ping Village. There are some eateries and souvenirs shops.

Going down was a lot easier! We didnt eat the vegetarian as we wanted to go Tai-O for seafood. Tai-O will be next post.

My Cookbook - Sunway Giza

One CNY Friday, both Boyboy and I were on leave. Before we went to sing K, we stopped by Sunway Giza for lunch. We went into this newly opened outlet. Its menu presentation was freaking nice, all are nicely photograph. While you browsing through their menu, you will feel like you are dining at a high class restaurant. Fret not, their prices are reasonable.

Fish Fillet Fried Rice (RM15.90). The presentation of this dish was good, but taste-wise it was disappointing. I don't know it was the fried rice or the springy thingy on top of it, the whole thing has very fishy taste. The fish fillet was not spared either, it was fishy and oily as well. I am super duper pantang with fishy food. I forcefully finish the whole plate. Felt like vomitting after that.

Set Lunch Curry Mee (RM18.90). The curry mee comes with 2 fried dumpling, taufupok and their in-house specialty chicken roll. I ate one piece of the dumpling and it was really good, lots of ingredients and big piece! I don't like the chicken though. Sorry, I know this is their signature food, but I just dont like it. Curry wise, there are other better curry mee elsewhere which is cheaper.

Yam Cake (RM8.90). This yam cake is quite special where they put in the beans. The combination was good though. I would prefer them to put the chilli paste at the side of the dish rather than on top of the yam cake. Firstly, the chilli paste was super spicy (which my stomatch cant endure); Secondly, the chilli paste was oily where it 'wet' my yam cake to become oily.

Erm, I don't think I wanna pay a second visit. The taste is just not right for me. Sorry.

Chic King - Tropicana Mall

Let me write a short post during my lunch time. Before we went for movie, we tried the newly open outlet Chic King in Tropicana City Mall. The restaurant was quite empty at 8.30pm. Basically the food is very similar to KFC, it has original / spicy chicken, chicken strips, chicken burger and some other things that I didnt really remember.

I ordered meal #1 that consists of 2 pieces of chicken, 1 coleslaw, 1 mash potato and 1 drink. Around RM9.50 I think. Boy boy ordered meal #3 that consists of 1 piece chicken, 3 pieces chicken strips, 1 rice and 1 drink.

The rice was tasteless, not nice lor. Beriyani-rice / Arab-rice look alike but taste nothing near the former 2 rice. Mash potato was good. Coleslaw was normal, I dont know why it tasted sour towards the bottom part.

The fried chicken was ok, nothing spectacular and nothing bad. Let me assure you that Chic King chicken is definately better than Popeyes Louisiana chichen. The portion was small though, I dont think a big eater can get full after eating.

Another thing I dont like is that they do not have fork and knife, not even the plastic ones. I hate eating stuffs using my hands, except crabs and prawns. All their things are paper, I think they are lazy to wash the plates.

Ocean Park - Hong Kong

I have been to Ocean Park when I was young, around 12 yo maybe. And I am back here again! We took MTR to Central and take a bus from there. Not to worry about the bus schedule as they have lots of buses available from the station. Be there early though because the Q was freaking long at 10am.

We reached Ocean Park at 10am and the ticketing counter was empty., no Q. What a surprise. The ticket is priced at HKD250 for adult. They are currently having 10% discount on Hong Kong Attractions Fun Deals (From now until 31 December 2011, you can enjoy special discounts to visit the five major Hong Kong attractions - Ngong Ping 360, Hong Kong Wetland Park, Ocean Park, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong and The Peak Tram). Since we visited Madam Tussaud the night before, we get to have the 10% discount when we showed them the tickets.

Dad have planned our itinerary for Ocean Park before we come to Hong Kong. Ocean Park has lots of shows, feeding sessions, rides and education session. It would be best that you surf their website for all the time table then you plan accordingly which area you should go first to save time.

It was a Friday that day and the visitors were not many and I guessed most people will opt for Disneyland instead, so we don't need to Q up long for all the rides and we have lots of options for the seatings for shows. A piece of advise, please be at least 15 minutes early prior to showtime to get a good seat.

The panda feeding session was at 10am, we rushed ourselves to Panda Area first.

We took a waterfront express train up to the second tier where all the adventurous rides are there. There is nothing to see inside the train, you can choose to take the cable car instead.

The dolphin show was the best among all other rides / shows. Love the dolphins and sea lions to bits! I recorded lots of their action.

After taking this turning round ride, I started to get dizzy.

Took the most adventurous roller coaster in Ocean Park that has 3 loops. During the second loop I felt like vomiting already. Sigh, getting older liao, this things I dont think I can endure it anymore. Whole noon feeling nausea.

Took cable car down to the first tier.

Went to another Panda area that houses 2 quite old panda that China gave Hong Kong as gifts when they taken back Hong Kong.

Bird show. Nothing to shout about. Our Malaysia bird show is much nicer. Don't expect parrots cycling or do tricks because they don't have. The birds here just fly here fly there only. Quite disappointed with this.

Bye bye Ocean Park, will bring my children to come here next time!

Skewers - Subang Avenue

Found a new hangout place in Subang Avenue and decided to try it out with Suyin and Nikky.

Boy boy and I reached there first. As we were hungry, we ordered Combo 1 for sharing. It came with a bowl of mashed potato and salad. When they served the mashed potato, we were shocked at the amount they gave. I think it was 5 scoop of mashed potato! Love it to bits, flavourful and have some soft pieces of potato for you to chew. Boy boy liked it too! On the other hand, the salad didn't fare really that night, I think they put too much vinegar and it was really sour.

Combo 1 (RM50) consists of chicken wings, grilled chicken skewers and minty lamb skewers.

The grilled chicken was tender but the flavour was so-so only. The minty lamb was tender too and it was tasty. Grilled chicken wings were so-so too.

When Nikky and Suyin arrived, they ordered Combo 2 (RM50) that consists of salted egg prawns, grilled prawns and grilled chicken.

I was quite skeptical when Suyin wanna ordered the salted eggs prawns as I have read a lot of bloggers saying super salty. But we tried anyway. The prawns were big pieces and it was not salty as what other bloggers said. Maybe they have reduce the salt content after reading so many comments? The coating were crunchy and it went really well as a whole.

Maybe you are wondering why I didn't try the burger, which they are famous for? coz boy boy does not take beef, so I can't order it. Definitely can't finish the portion myself. Maybe I will invite my girlfriends to come here for dinner and drinks next time. They have beef and cocktails too!

Nikudo Seafood - SS2

Boy boy received flyers on this new restaurant located at SS2, so we went and tried it. It's signature food are grilled seafood and its hand made balls. We saw other tables eating crabs and seafood, but we opt for the noodles instead.

Sea Prawn Dry Noodles (RM9.90). The noodles came with 2 medium sized prawns and 3 cuttlefish balls (they have a few options of the types of balls you can choose). The noodles were good but the homemade sauce was too much, I dont quite like watery sauce for my dry noodles. The cuttlefish balls have no fishy smell.

Traditional Tread Fish Head Mee Hoon Soup (RM15). They only have the fried fish version for fish head noodle. I scooped some soup from boy boy, the soup was not as good as the Fish Head Noodle in Kota Damansara, but was decent enough.

Complimentary balls. I was surprised that they gave every table a bowl of complimentary balls that day. 2 of us got 6 balls while the table of 4 beside got 12 pieces, which was very generous of the restaurant. Who doesn't like free stuffs? The staff came and explained that all the balls have no preservative or colouring and all handmade. Boy boy said the balls were not springy enough, but to me, it was ok.

Grilled Squid (RM5.60). I don't quite like this one, the marinate sauce tasted funny and the squid was chewy. It came with chilli sauce, that tasted weird to me as well. Boy boy found it acceptable though.

With a brand humming on its seafood, I think they really did a good job in preserving the freshness of the seafood as the stuffs do not have any fishy taste (which I am very sensitive of).

Madam Tussauds is situated at The Peak (click to refer to my previous post on The Peak).

Jackie Chan's wax figure is located at the entrance but you are not allowed to use your own camera. They will use their camera and take a picture of you, then you can choose to buy the picture at the exit. I think it was expensive, almost RM50 for a picture, that's why we didn't buy it.

The Peak - Hong Kong

We reached our hotel in Yau Ma Tei around 3pm and as soon as we change to warm clothing, we went to The Peak. Took the MTR to Central and walked to the lower terminal of The Peak Tram. The walk was like 15 minutes, because it was going uphill.

We bought the Tram ticket together with Madam Tussaud entrance ticket. Here's a look of the tram. Actually it can fit in a lot of people. When it was going uphill, we can see some scenery of Hong Kong's skyscrappers. That day was really foggy.

At the top of The Peak, we walked out from the building and had a walk around that area. Below is a older version of the tram.

We were hungry as the airplane food was not nice. We chose this Mak's Noodle as our tea time.

Wanton Mee. The dumplings were really tasty with lots of big pieces of prawns (which I like!). The soup was clear and has some flavour in it, not overpowering. Their version of mee was much thinner than our Malaysian version. It was springy.

Dad ordered beef noodles and he really liked it very much. I know it because he tried other restaurant beef noodles in the next few days and it was not as good as this. The beef was really tender.

Frangipani - Changkat Bukit Bintang

We went to a fine dinning restaurant last December to celebrate my bro's achievement. When he suggested fine dining, I immediately went and google search some restaurants. Apparently that there are some Japanese-western fine dining, Chinese fine dining besides the conventional French fine dining.

During my 21st birthday, we celebrated in one of the oldest french fine dining restaurant in KL -- Chalet in Hotel Equtorial. So this time, we wanted to try somewhere different. I tried to book Sage in The Gardens, but it was close on 1 Jan 2011.

My dad wanted the French version and he saw Frangipani's had some good reviews. So we went. There was some parking space in front of the restaurant, which is good for area like Changkat Bukit Bintang. The jockey parking was RM10.

Once you stepped inside the restaurant, you will immediately feel a class above. The ambience was very cozy, dim lightings (which make photography difficult), and there was ample space between each table.

Complementary bread roll with butter spread. The funny thing was my bro kept on saying eat more bread to fill up the stomach because fine dinning portions are small. So he refill 3 rounds of bread (I think), when it reaches the main course, he was almost full. Hehe. Our stomach has no more space for dessert. The butter spread was so-so, but the bread was fresh and has a crispy skin.

Complimentary starter. I do not know what was this, but it came in a small cup with some thin spaghetti in it and some sauce. It tasted like maggi mee seasoning (no offense to the chef, but this is just my opinion). But my mom liked it though.

Amuse Bouche. The outer layer bread was crispy with some spread in it. The whole thing worked really well together. It tasted quite delicious. I sort of raise my expectation for the following meals after tasting this.

The offers 3 course meal (first course, second course and main course) at RM160 (if I am not mistaken). Each course has several items to choose from. But be careful that you read the whole description correctly because 2/3 of the meals have additional fees, ranging from RM15 - RM45.

Since there was 5 of us, we tried to order some variety for our courses but we dont fancy certain items, so we may have repeated some of the courses.

First Course

Crab and prawn bisque with crab quenelles, prawns poached in beurre noisette and a trail of Italian lemon oil. Dad ordered this and he said it was good, rich and creamy.

Pan roasted porcini powder dusted Hokkaido scallop with half cooked potato sliced, seared porcini mushrooms and white gazpacho vinaigrette. My sis and I ordered this for additional RM10/RM20 (I have forgotten). The scallop was freaking huge! The biggest scallop that I have eaten so far. It was succulent and the marination was so perfect. Matched with the seared porcini mushroom at the bottom, it tasted delicious! Love this!

Second Course

Grilled basil garlic infused snails with sweet pea puree, dried tomato glaze and garlic peanut crumble. Escargots were nice and I wished that I have ordered this instead of the salmon that I ordered.

Deep fried spice dusted soft shell crab with white bouillabaisse sauce, tomato reduction, chickpea aïoli and saffron foam. Sis ordered this and I took a piece of it. The soft shell crab was crispy, eaten together with the sauce, it was unique combination of taste I can say. Quite good.

Roast pigeon breast with its raviolo of confit quail leg in sage beurre noisette and a trail of maraschino cherry sauce. My bro said this dish has the strong 'pigeon' smell. It was tender though, but I cant tolerate the smell. The dumpling thingy on the right was nice.

Warm tea smoked salmon with confit potatoes crème fraîche and salmon roe. When this dish arrived, I immediately smell the fishy smell from the salmon. Mind you, I do take salmon sashimi ok. But this I couldn't tolerate too. The smoked salmon came in a very big piece, but I couldnt force myself to finish it, I pushed it to my dad.

Complimentary sorbet. I super like this!

Main Course

Pan roasted, duck prosciutto wrapped grain fed tenderloin topped with pan seared foie gras and served with wilted spinach and truffle glazee. This has the additional RM45 price tag, if I am not mistaken. We wanted to try the foie gras strudel that everyone was raving about, but it was not available that day.

Dad's dish has a tiny piece of foie gras on top and he gave us one small piece to try. I can say I dont quite like it, it tasted like oil thingy. Good, then I don't need to crave for foie gras, you know what, the way the people (not the restaurant) prepare the goose was really cruel? Kindly google search then you will know.

Tenderloin was nice.

Pan roasted duck confit with mustard cream and mashed potato on a crisp potato couronne. The meat was really tender.

Grilled Wagyu beef cheek with braised red cabbage, mole sauce and pumpkin dauphines. When I see the word Wagyu beef, I ordered this. I have tried Kobe beef in Japan (Super love it!), but yet to try wagyu beef, I can imagine wagyu should be melt in the mouth kind of tenderness.

When I first took in this wagyu beef cheek, I got shocked because this was so tender until it tasted like a chunk of fats in your mouth, slimey thingy moving inside your mouth. Oh gosh! I can't accept it. The texture was a really big problem to me. It was like I am eating beef, not beef. The marination was really nice but the beef cheek ..... I just cant accept the texture. This is strictly personal opinion. Can't they just use wagyu beef meat instead of the cheek? I just forcefully ate half the portion. Like the pumpkin dauphine though.

My mom also left half a plate of the cheek. When the waiter came and collect our plate, she asked whether is something wrong with it, my mom just said we were just full.

Well, the bill came out to almost reaching the 4 digit amount. Half of the courses were not up to our taste. Guess we are not suited with french fine dinning (But we didn't encounter the same problem in Chalet). Maybe next time I will opt for the Japanese-Western fine dinning.

I know many people believes in Feng Shui and some even practice it. There are many shops or restaurants or offices that have some feng shui decorations at their places. I am fine with it coz I myself believe in feng shui.

The thing is, some people, to be precise, a shop in Hong Kong went a bit overboard with it.

One night, we bought almost HKD1000 worth of clothes in a shop nearby our hotel. I bought a winter coat. When I was checking half way, the sales girl (she was really nice) said, 'is ok one, no problem with our clothes', so I just let it be.

The following morning, when I wanna unbutton the winter coat and wear it, I saw the big button has serious scratches on it. So at 9.30am, we went back to the shop and requested for an exchange. The salesgirl and the manager who served me the night before were not there.

So I spoke a salesgirl. I spoke in Cantonese and god knows what the girl spoke to me with, coz I dont understand what is she trying to say. It was like 'chicken and duck talk'. She dont wanna exchange for me, so I raised my voice and asked why cannot exchange because I just bought it the night before.

After like about 5 minutes of arguing, a manager came out from the storeroom and said sorry, she will exchange for me. While exchanging, she mumbled, "actually we can only exchange clothes after we closed our first sales for the day or can only exchange after 12pm".

I was like WTH? The exchange policy stated on their wall didnt state like that ok. They believe in feng shui until this extend! If like that, then state clearly in your policy lor.

My dad said, "if their sales is bad that day, they surely will blame it on you".

I was like, "not my fault lor". Still, I feel bad about it. Sigh.

Felt nausea on tuesday whole day. So I slept from 8pm - 6am.

Exploring Lomo Pics

Going to the 'Pearl of Orient' tomorrow with my dad and sis. More on sight seeing coz my sis never been to HK before. Ocean Park, Madam Tussaude, Lautau Island are among the few in our list. But I still wont miss the opportunity of shopping for some CNY clothes for myself. Haha.

I mean, we are fine.

We talked about a few critical issues in our relationship and managed to sort things out.

We settled it before Christmas day, so I have been fine since then. I just dont have time to update my status in my blog. Annie asked me to update fast, if not someone will think that I am still sad. Hehe.

During the first weekend of 2011, we bought a house. That's a commitment from both of us.

Now, I promised him that I will not simply emo and fight with him for no particular reason, and he also promised me not to scold me.

Had an argument with him last Wednesday.

And I thought going to KK on weekends can make me forget him for awhile, but it didn’t.

During the trip, I have thought about a lot of things.

I wonder he really doesn’t want to hear my voice anymore.

I feel that he is bored of me after all these years.

I think he will be happier without me in his life.

I ponder about our time together. Good and bad.

This is worst time that we are going through. Everytime we argued, we settled within 2 days. But this time, it is that bad. He never call since last Wednesday, except for hacking my facebook account.

There is no future that I can foresee at this moment.

Maybe we need some time-off for each other.

I am trying to adjust my life without his presence now.

It is not easy, but I will try.

La Yosh - Plaza Damas

When I see Japanese Western Food, I immediately thought of Pasta Zanmai. There is another restaurant located in Plaza Damas that has similar concept. But to me, both have their own distinct taste.

It was almost 9pm when we reached there and the restaurant only have one table occupied. It is not big though but the ambience was cozy with dim lights and nice settings / decoration. They also have an open kitchen concept where you can see the chef cook.

I ordered Chicken Steak Mushroom (RM21.90), couldnt resist anything with mushrooms (must be influenced by my sis). It came in a really small plate / portion and it was just nice for me. The spaghetti sauce was just nice, it was not overly creamy. The chicken steak was nice too, but I took out the skin, too fatty for me. Wish they could give more mushrooms and vege though.

Boy boy ordered Set Dinner (RM38). It came with salad, soup, main dish and dessert. The salad was normal. The soup that day was clam chowder. A bit powdery (I think all clam chowder is like that) and a little bit clam in it.

There have 3 main dishes for you to choose from (if I am not mistaken), boy boy chose grilled salmon. I am very particular with GRILLED salmon as it has fishy smell whenever the salmon is grilled, I always prefer it to be fresh. This La Yosh version too was no exception. I took a bite and there was some fishy smell. I like the carrot though, nice taste.

The set comes with green tea ice cream. Normal.

Maybe I will come back again with my family to give it another try.

My day at TCM bazaar

Last weekend was our very first bazaar at Tropicana City Mall. My partner and I were excited. We were quite kelam-kabut during the arrangement of items on the first day.

After settling down everything, we were ready to serve the customers. The only thing was there was no crowd. =.=" If there are people walking by, the just see see look look, and some dont even bother to walk till end, they U-turn when they almost reaching our booth. We were quite disappointed.

In the evening, Michie Gan came and visit us with her family, we were so happy to catch up with her.

During the whole day, we saw our neighbouring booths complained to the organizer that there is no crowd, there was no business for them etc. The organizer didnt come to our booth and say hello. My partner was really angry.

At the end of the day, I went up to the organizer and requested to change our booth to a better location, and she agreed. Thanks.

So, the second day, we were just in front of 7-11, some sort of near the entrance of TCM, which was good enough. At least people will come and flip our clothes.

This is PY, who was so kind to help me jaga booth on weekends. Thanks dear, muacks!

During some free time, I took some photos.

Second day was good enough for us, although we still wanna complain a lot of things ie. the band who kept on repeating the 5 songs every 2 hours (i.e again Pixie Lott). The band was totally not up to par.

The bazaar was until 10pm, but most of the vendors packed their things starting from 6pm. Our perception was since we paid for the rental fee, mai suai we waited till the end. Around 9pm, there were only 3-4 booths left (out of 40 booths). The organizer came and chat with us. We gave them our honest opinions, no hard feelings ya! We do hope for improvements in the future.

We will be participating in the same bazaar in January, and we hope that the response is good.

Even before this place was opened, there were a lot of banner along the road in Taman Mayang. Initially we thought it was some chinese 'dit da' center, but after it was opened, we found out that it is a steamboat place.

The place was incredibly packed at night. So, the day when my bro left to SG, my parents wanted to try out this place. They picked me up at LRT station and we reached the restaurant at 6.30pm, and there were only 3 tables occupied. Please come early if you wanna try out, because by 7pm, the restaurant was packed and that day was a Friday night.

The waitress there was very friendly, she introduced their special dishes and assisted us in ordering the food. We ordered fried sotong as my mum wanted to try. The sotong was fresh and it was really crispy and not oily. The only complain was the portion was too small for 3 of us! We wanted more!

There are no set menu. You pick your broth and dishes. We picked beef slices, it came in a rather big portion. My dad was really happy with it and said it was really good (note: my dad is picky with beef).

Oyster mushroom, vege, dumpling. yee mee and pork meat balls. The dumplings were filled to the brim, it has prawn pieces in it, it was very tasty. The pork meat balls as well.

We picked 2 types of soup: Pepper broth (left) and their signature pork bone broth. Honestly speaking, my parents and I prefer the pepper broth as it was really peppery. The pork bone broth was so-so only. The pepper broth was diluted after they added soup in it but didnt add pepper. So make sure that you drink more during the first round.

They have 5 different sauces for you to choose. I personally like the fried garlic. Let me warn you first, the chilli on the bottom right was really spicy, not for the faint-hearted.

Hot boiling soup with lots of ingredients.

The food was enough for the 3 of us (not a big eater) and the bill was RM80. It was a bit expensive for steamboat considering that we do not order any seafood (except the fried sotong). Nevertheless, it is worth a try if you are willing to splurge on good steamboat, their ingredients are fresh and the broths are nice. Will I go back again? Yes I will.

Ok guys, I am getting my new laptop tomorrow, hope that my blogging entry will resume as usual. I am still blogging from my dad’s laptop.

Brother has gone to SG last Friday. That morning itself, when I sat beside him and waking him up and told him that I am going to work ady and asked him to take care, my tears almost wanna flow out. Sigh, what a useless sis. Is always like that. Last time when we sent him off to Australia (that was like 8 years ago?), everyone was ok (no crying) until when my bro hugged me, my tears uncontrollably flowed out, and made all the people there cried. Luckily that morning he was still blur blur, haven’t wake up, so I left quickly, dem emo lor me.

Nevertheless, he settled down in SG now and he just booked tickets to come back during CNY. I am planning to go SG in June for their Mega Sales. No worries bro, every 3 months you can see us. Hahaha. SG not that far lar, First Coach / Airasia also very cheap only. Is just the hotel stay is expensive lor.

Yay! My sis is coming back from Australia for holiday this Friday. Guess my sis is the most excited person to see my bro back during CNY. She misses him a lot, she even dedicated a blog post for him. My sis misses her dogs too!

Today 5.30am received a sms, I have half expecting it to be a spam, it appeared that my cousin, Yen has just gave birth to a baby boy at 12.22am weighing 2.7kg, and she sms us to say that she is fine. She will be resting in my grandma’s place. Woo…I get to see the baby for a month.

Expecting another cousin of mine, Martin’s wife is giving birth around this time too, but her one is a baby girl. We are just waiting for the time to come. So, 2 babies have teman to play with each other during growing up stage. Same as my bro and I with Jojo, Ray, Yen, Wohlut and Mart, all of us are around the same age, we had good time together. Hope the next generation will have too!

Now, that’s one tiny problem, when people around me starting to get married or give birth, my emotion become unbalanced again. Sigh, thinking that why I couldn’t get marry … I want a baby too! When I have a lot of makeup jobs all packed together, I wanted to be a bride too. But now I already get used to the feelings or maybe numb already. That’s a good sign though, I still can play around for a few more years, no one can control.

I am going to Tao Cuisine to celebrate boy boy’s mom 60th birthday this Friday night. I have heard lots of good reviews and bad reviews for this buffet dinner. Good from Boy boy, bad from NCE. Guess I better try it out and see it for myself because NCE claimed that it was really really bad.

Starting a business is really hard. The amount of time and money spent on it is un-measurable. Sometimes, during Emo time, you will feel very depressed. However, Dad, mom, Boy boy and partner are really supportive. Guess when you never try, you never know right. Let me try to venture into this business and see whether am I fated to be in the fashion business.

I am having a booth in a bazaar at Tropicana Mall this weekend. A lot of things need to be prepared. I was in the sales line before and I have no idea why am I still so nervous about this. Need to buckle up my mood and attract more customers to stop at our booth.

I will also be displaying some accessories (necklaces, earrings) made by my mum (mind you, she went for a course to learn how to make accessories ok). Maybe I can try to sell cookies or cake made by my mum hor. Wah, what chap ba lang things also I wanna sell. Hahaha. If my partner read this, sure she will get shocked.

The Next Three Days

The movie was about Russell Crowe’s wife, Lara was accused of murdering her boss and was put in jail. Russell Crowe talked to an ex-convict who managed to break out of jail 7 times on how to escape from jail. After that, he plans the whole jail-breaking thingy to save his wife out.

The movie was around 2 hours plus. The story was a bit slow for the first half (indeed it was really uneasy for me to sit through the first half), and it started to pick up when RC save his wife out.

The whole story was indeed a bit fake as you may say, but no doubt that RC’s character is very smart, I didn’t expect him to plan until so far away (the detective searching the map part). Plus some luck, the whole plan works really well.

I am really sorry for abandoning my blog for quite some time. As some of you may have guessed, I have started a blogshop with my friend. For the past 2 months I was quite busy with the blogshop, and hence the mia-ness in here. Everything has been quite hectic since then.

I have yet to write about my Taipei trip and a lot of food posts pending. Update will resume this week and will try my best to update at least once a week ya.

I am foreseeing December to be a busy month for me again as I will be participating in a bazaar this coming weekend (4 & 5 December) in Tropicana Mall. First time having a booth in bazaar and I am very very excited, and at the same time nervous. If you guys are free, please drop by and visit me ya.

Not to mention that my company trip will be on the 3rd weekend in December. Busy busy, but still manageable.

Bee Ho Steamboat - Subang Jaya

Another Pulau Ketam Steamboat in Subang Jaya, similar to Ho Ho's concept. This Bee Ho was priced at RM13.50 per one pax set (if I am not mistaken). We ordered 2 sets and wine-steamed clams (RM20 I think).

The ingredients were not stacked as high as Ho Ho and slightly little compared to Ho Ho. They also have one type of soup only. The soup was clear but not as rich as Ho Ho. I cant stop but to keep on comparing both shops coz they have the same concept.

We ordered the clams as well. BIG fresh clams, boy boy loves it. with lots of ginger and a hinch of wine. This was priced around RM20 plus I think.

Unstoppable

This film was inspired by a real story. It talks about unmanned train that is carrying harzardous materials that went unstoppable. Until a point that veteran locomotive engineer, Denzel Washington and rookie conductor, Chris Pine works to stop the train. Similar incident with Keanu Reeves’ movie Speed.

This movie will glue you to your seat and keep you from breathing when the people trying to stop the train and the stunts they are doing. Especially they release a man from a helicopter to land on the train and Chris Pine kicking the lock pin down. Plus, when the train taking a critical corner turning, I did not blink my eyes at all. It was this intense. I grabbed boy boy’s hand very tightly during these scenes.

Denzel Washington did a great job portraying the veteran engineer. Well, we can’t question Denzel’s acting capability, cant we? I have no doubts on this acting capability. His character was very farnie, cracked some jokes. He has gotten fatter though. I think he is jumping into the same banwagon as Samuel L Jackson gang.

Rosario Dawson deserves a thumb up too! She was really really good.

As for Chris Pine, so-so, nothing to shout about. I think he shines more in Star Trek.

Megamind

After sending my parents and bro to the airport, I went to One Utama to catch the movie – Megamind alone. Since boy boy don’t like to watch cartoon show, I decided to watch it myself since I have nothing to do at home.

It was 11.30am show and the whole cinema has one couple sitting on my right and 3 different individuals seated few rows in front of me. There are people who likes to watch movie alone one wor. I am not the odd one out ya.

Standard cartoon movie with some lame jokes. I tried to laugh since I was supposed to enjoy the movie. The movie is about this super-intelligent alien who was raised in a prison and turned out to be villain when he was discriminated by his school mates while his nemesis, Metro Man gained fame as Metro City hero.

So both Megamind and MetroMan has been fighting numerous battles until one stint finally killed MetroMan. Without the presence of MetroMan, Megamind feels bored, so he created another hero, Tighten, and he turns out to be a disaster.

There goes the story. I would prefer How to Train Your Dragon or Toy Story movies anytime.

Phai Lin Thai - damansara uptown

Cravings for Thai food on a raining day. Decided to venture into this new restaurant. When we reach, it was around 8.30pm and the restaurant was empty. I was a bit skeptical when I entered the restaurant. The restaurant space was really big, I think can cater more than 100 guests, but it was empty. When fly flies past also you can hear.

Nevertheless, still wanna drink the tomyam soup. We ordered the set for 2 person (around RM52++, I think).

Spring roll.

Salted Fish Kai Lan. Huge amount.

Tomyam seafood. The tomyam taste was not strong enough, I tasted quite diluted. It was sour but not spicy. The ingredients were a lot though.

Green curry chicken. I love this! The green curry was thick in flavour and it was sweet to my liking. Lots of ingredients as well. I ate more green curry than the tomyam soup.

Dessert.

I think I will go back and try other food, maybe the steam fish, despite the tomyam was not up to par. The plus point is that they are not stingy with the ingredients.

When I saw the trailer of this movie, Hayden Christensen’s character caught my attention. I am not a fan of his (not a fan of Star Wars either), but I surely like his look in this movie, with a hat and a bow tie and a vest. Cool like mad.

The starting of the movie was interesting, it described how they rob a bank efficiently and done it with super uber coolness. After that, it has some talking scenes. I was a bit tired and I felt asleep. The eyes really cannot open muh.

Then it was like ¼ of the show, the actions started to come in i.e the boming of the road, the blasting of gun fires, the chasing sequences (Chris Brown must be exhausted while filming this movie), the Russian mobs shooting scenes etc. All these scenes came non-stop and I stayed awake till the end.

Storyline was so-so, the characters lack of dept, they emphasize a lot on the life of Gordon, Jake and the two policemen. I have no idea what Paul Walker and Hayden Christensen’s life was about.

I think they will have a second sequel on the survivors or even a prequel to describes Paul Walker and Hayden character.

We were at Nikky’s house that night. So we went and try out this new restaurant called Pizza San Francisco.

Mushroom Soup (RM5.90)

Calzone (RM19.90)

Lamb chop at a promotion price of RM12.90, which was very cheap, so we kinda expect it would be a tiny portion. But they proved us wrong by giving us 4 big pieces of lamb chops! Huge amount of it as well as …. Lamb fats. Too fat la the lamb, I have to cut off lots of fats. Then there is certain parts of the lamb chops were very red in color, I don’t dare to eat. I only eat well-done lamb.

Suyin ordered Carbonara (RM15.90), she said it was tasteless.

Santa Barbara Chicken (RM26.90). Quite a big portion but lots of rough chicken breast meat.

Ice Lemon Tea (RM4.90) and Drinking water (RM0.90). They offer quite a variety of western chops and pastas. Can give it a try though but not too high expectations.

Pao Xiang Bak Kut Teh

On a Saturday, we went for house hunting with Nikky and Suyin. Before we start the hunting, we went for lunch at the famous Pao Xiang BKT. The Pu Er costs RM5.

It was a quiet afternoon for them. The price was expensive and the food portion was small. If you are dining 2 person, make sure that you order AT LEAST 2 types of meat, if not you wont be full.

The advantage of the restaurant was that they serve the meat on top of a burner. So your meat and soup is always hot.

Sui Kut Tang Ki (RM9.50); Pai Kut (RM9.50); Luan Kut (RM9.50); Sum Chan Bah (RM9.50). You can ask for additional soup. I didn’t see them charge for this additional soup.

The soup was sweet and the meat was tender.

We ordered some Yao Mak (RM8.50) for the greens.

Then, the Yao Char Kuey / Oil Stick (RM4) was strongly recommended by Nikky and Suyin. We ordered 2 bowls. Indeed, it was really crunchy and not oily as the other YCK. It was really good! If you are going there, make sure you order one bowl of this YCK just for yourselves, no sharing! This was THAT GOOD.

Whenever we passed by this place, it was full of people. So on a rainy Sunday night, we decided to try this BKT. At 9pm, the restaurant was empty. We ordered one dry and one traditional version BKT.

This is my first time trying dry BKT. The sauce was sweet. I hope they give more lady fingers though. Not bad actually.

The soup version came boiling hot. It was ok.

The yaocharkuey was a bit soggy, not nice at all. Other than that, it was average BKT shop.

Carnaval Churrascaria

Managed to ajak Yweng couple, Nikky couple and my bro to try out this brazillian buffet restaurant on a Sunday. The restaurant offers 15% discount on Sunday, so we paid RM48 + RM1.20 (refillable plain water).

We were giving 2 types of condiments to eat with the meat.

They offer different types of grill meat off the skewer. So when the waiter brings the meat to you, just say 'Yes' if you want it and he will cut it for you. Throughout the whole night, they will keep on bringing out different types of meat.

Chicken Ham and garlic bread. God knows how many pieces of Garlic bread that me, my bro, mich and scott took, more than 10 pieces for each of us. Although it tasted slightly sour but it smell so nice and tasted good.

There is also an area for salad and some vegetables.

Chicken sauge, lamb leg, and beef.

Curry fillet: so-so only. The grill chicken tasted awesome, it was well-marinated and full with flavour, the only downside was it was really salty. I was so tempted to take another piece, but I scare of the saltiness.

They have gizzards and pineapple. Oh ya, the grill pineapple is a must-try too! very very juicy and sweet, we ate quite a lot of that.

That was the day we celebrated 10.10.10.

Overall, it was a good dining experience. If you loves meat, definately must come here and try. Now my dad wants us to bring him dine there after hearing our good reviews.

Mezze - Medan Damansara

Thinking hard on where to celebrate our 8th anniversary dinner and finally settled with Mezze, a Mediterranean food. I am not new to Mediterranean food as I have tried before elsewhere and I find them tasted unique.

At first I was targeting for a quiet and romantic place for us and not too far from my house. I thought Mezze was not a bad place but I overlook the ‘bistro’ setting. The moment I step into the restaurant, we were seated in the middle of the restaurant and there are a lot of tables occupied by uncles who drink wine and very noisy.

This aside (still tolerable), the restaurant allows the customers to smoke under air-con environment! This I couldn’t tolerate. I hate people who smoke in air con environment. Please la, be considerate a bit, I don’t wanna have lung cancer like you ok. Boy boy said there is no sign in the restaurant said ‘smoking is not allowed’. I really regret my decision of coming here.

We placed order for 2 starters, 1 main and 1 dessert. The waiter told us that they will serve the food in sequence. He specifically mentioned, “we will serve the 2 starters, then the main and then the dessert” We agreed.

Portobello mushroom (RM16). I love Portobello mushroom, this was juicy and together with some garlic paste with pine nut, I think this was good enough.

Goat cheese salad (RM18). This dish was on the chef’s special that day. It came with a splash of goat cheese, slightly melted on a piece of bread, some salad in the middle with some sprinkle of bacon. It tasted very new to me coz I have never eat a splash of goat cheese, the smell of cheese was bearable. Eaten together with the fresh salad and crispy bacon, it was nice.

After we were finished with the starters, we waited 20 minutes before they serve us lamb pilaf pie and brownie, TOGETHER. Both of us stared at the waiter and hope he noticed that these two things were not meant to serve TOGETHER. He didn’t do anything.

“So what do we do?” Boy boy asked.
“Hm…. Tak kan we ask the waiter to take back the brownie?”
“Erm, isn’t it weird to eat the brownie first then the pie?” Boy boy asked.
“Never mind lor, what to do?”

So, unwillingly, we ate the brownie first. Brownie with a scoop of Hagen Daaz ice cream (RM19.50). Luckily the brownie tasted delicious, it was not moist enough but it was good enough to satisfy my cravings for chocolate cake. I really wish that I finish the night with this dessert.

OK, let’s eat Lamb Pilaf Pie (RM33) after the dessert. We were looking for some lamb shank or lamb shoulder to order but the menu doesn’t have it. They only offers Lamb Pilaf Pie and Lamb Moussaka. We went with the former.

When we break open the crust, it was basmati rice and the lamb with herbs were embedded between the rice. The crust was good and the lamb was good. I feel like this dish that I am eating Arab-style rice.

We were full at the end, not to mention that we were soaked with smelly cigarette smell. I pushed my half-drank Melon berry More mocktail (RM9) for boy boy to finish it and before he sipped, he saw a baby fly in it. I really sweat big time. More points minus off from this restaurant.

Overall, I was just really disappointed with this restaurant and I really do regret my choice of choosing this restaurant to celebrate my 8th year anniversary. I totally do not recommend families or couples to come here.

It is our 8th year anniversary today. When we got together I didn’t even think that we could last this long (actually I didn’t expect him to be so loyal, hehe).

This is the first pressie he gave to me during our first dating and it is always beside my bed.

When PY and I were shopping in a bazaar, we saw a stall that sells cards. PY and I bought this card. I thought it is a butterfly at first but when I look closer, beneath the 2 butterflies, there are two characters that resemble the first gift that he gave me. Immediately I bought it, to remind both of us that how far we have come.

I have the urge to tell you guys how we got together, not many people knew about it, but I think it is a classic story that I can share with everyone.

After we graduated from secondary school, we lost contact (not to say lost contact because we don’t even talk to each other during secondary school, same class for 1 year some more). 3 years later, he added me through ICQ and we started chatting. Then he started to tell me all the sweet sweet things (which I chose not to disclose).

After 1 month of online ‘flirting’, he still didn’t ask me to be his gf. I was wondering whether we are a couple or not, or does he really like me, or he is just being nice to me, or he does not want to proceed further to a relationship?

So, finally, I asked the one million dollar question, “Would you like to be my boyfriend?” not through phone, it was through ICQ. Dem daring.

He didn’t answer me though, he asked me back, “would you like to be my girlfriend?”

That was how we got together, through ICQ.

Then, we went for our first date. He didn’t hold my hands. When I got back home, I complained to him that why he didn’t hold my hands, isn’t couple supposed to hold hands? He said that he was scared that I fling his hand away, and I said I wont do that.

So, on a second date, we walked for 30 minutes in the shopping complex and yet he still don’t wanna hold my hands. So I pissed off a bit and asked, “you wanna hold my hands or not one???”

Then he quickly hold. That was how we started of pak toh.

At the blink of eyes, it has been 8 years. Sometimes I wonder whether I am a replacement for her 3rd ex or not coz he entered into the relationship with me 2 months after the breakup. But time proves me wrong, because I know that he really loves me, he is the guy that I really want to be with for the rest of my life.

I truly appreciate the time and years that we spent together and celebrating all important events together.

Thank you for tolerating my fluctuating mood.

p/s: note that I did not bring the marriage issue up here coz I am beginning to think that there is a purpose why I am not married until now, maybe is an arrangement from God and I have started to accept it. The time will come, and I will just have to wait patiently for it without any forced actions that can damage our relationship.

I am happy for a friend Carolyn who is registering her marriage today.

She booked me for the makeup. Whenever I have morning makeup job, I couldnt sleep well the night before. Indeed, it happened again last time. Slept at 10pm, woke up 11pm and 1am. Finally, I woke up at 4am and went to her place at 5am and did her makeup. Luckily my finger did listen to my prayers, it just haltered my 2% of the makeup movement. Other than that, it was doing fine.

This is Carolyn in her beautiful ROM dress with a nice big ribbon at the back. Envy!

Anyhow, the gang of us (my bro, Nikky couple and yweng couple) also celebrated this special day in Carnaval Churrascaria for brazilian buffet. Just came back.

Index finger update:

The wound close already. I didnt let water to touch it for one week until today when I washed off the hair spray on my hair and it didnt feel pedih. Minyak gamat (sea cucumber oil) really works miracle! Sometimes you need to rely on some traditional medicine.

It happened that my mum's malay colleague gave her a bottle and she kept it until I told her that my colleague recommended me minyak gamat. I applied minyak gamat for 5 days, 'kiasi' (fear of dying) a bit, 3 times a day.

I think the wound needs time to heal. I cant bent my finger like the other left index finger do, cant straighten it like the other one. It do have sudden pain when I tried to use the force of 5 fingers.

And one more thing, I phobia foldable umbrella already.

Yu Ai - SS2

PY was super eager to try out this curry noodles after reading from a blogger's blog. She wanted to go to segambut for this but I said they have a branch in SS2, which is very near to our location. On one fine day, both of us went there for lunch.

I have known the existence of Yu Ai ages ago but I have only tried once few years ago because I am not a fan of curry noodles and seafood that time. That time it was priced at RM13 for small bowl and RM15 for big. Now, they have increased it to RM15 for small and RM17 for big. Pricey to eat I can say, but once in while, never mind la.

You can choose the ingredients that you want, if not they will just give everything to you i.e sotong, clams, prawns, mussels and fish slices. My bowl of curry noodles look simple coz I exlcuded the clams and mussels.

The curry soup was really thick and the ingredients were super duper a lot! 5 big prawns without the shell and lots of sotong. The fish slices were very fresh too. The curry was not that spicy but it was rich and creamy. PY said it was nice but nothing comparable to her hometown curry noodles (I have yet to try). At least it was good though that she didnt complain about it coz she is very very fussy with curry noodles or tomyam noodles.

Speaking of tomyam noodles, Yu Ai offers it too! We didnt try it that day, but one week later, I went back to Yu Ai with boyboy coz his turn to request that he wanted to eat curry noodles. So this time, I risked my stomach and ordered tomyam (PY, make sure you read this sentence ya coz you asked me to experiment).

I took a sip of the soup, it tasted slightly sour and a hint of lemony taste. Erm, not the typical tomyam broth that I tasted in the steamboat stall and Cozy Corner. This was darker in color. Still eatable though.

I mentioned to PY about it and she said the lemony taste tomyam is what she had been looking for in PJ. So she excitedly went and try few days later but she said it was not on par to her standard. Hm... different people different taste I assume.

By the way, you can order curry mix with tomyam broth in Yu Ai. I dont wanna risk my stomach for that version le. PY, you go eat and tell me.

accident or careless?

Yesterday, AL and I planned to go Citibank for lunch. After I stepped out from the office, I opened my umbrella (sort of new because I got it from my mum 2 weeks ago), and suddenly I slipped my hand through it. I felt a bit pain, so I look at my fingers. And I saw lots of blood flowing out from my right index finger.

I thought it was just a small stratch, so I was quite calm at that moment. But few seconds later, the blood was flowing so fast until it dropped onto the floor like water flowing out from the tap. Then AL and I panicked.

Took a piece of tissue and covered the wound, the blood immediately stained the whole tissue. Took another piece and applied pressure on it. Still the same. Took the third piece. Still the same.

We were struggling whether to go back to office or go to clinic. AL’s opinion was to stop the blood myself first. So when we walked back few steps, I opened the tissue and see again, the wound was quite big then I told AL that I better go to clinic. I don’t think I can stop the blood myself.

When I was in the clinic, I told the nurse that I cut my finger. Then she said, “potong dengan pisau?” I said, “bukan, potong dengan umbrella”. Then they all laughed and kept thinking how the heck I cut myself with an umbrella.

Luckily doctor said no need to stitch, but need to jab. I panicked again, jab on the finger??? Dem pain wei. But the doctor said jab on my arm, tetanus jab. Oh, I felt relieve. After bandaging my finger, she asked me to always point the finger upwards. She added on, “One Malaysia ma”. I swt. AL jokingly said luckily is not the third finger that kena cut.

Doctor gave me antibiotic, pain killer, anti-swelling medicines, and most of all, a half-day MC. Woot! I didn’t ask for it, the doctor gave me one.

Now I realize that the index finger is very very important, especially I am right handed. I cant hold a pen, cant hold chopsticks, cant hold knife etc. So when I am ordering food I need to think back n forth i.e easy to eat with just one hand, no seafood, no eggs etc.

Furthermore, I cant click properly on the mouse, heavily relying on my third finger, until one time my third finger cramp. I even use my third finger to type. Now, my third finger very tired lor.

Bathing time is the most horrific part, I have to wrap my hand with plastic bag to prevent water from sprinkling to my wound. Wash my face with one hand, apply soup with one hand. Oh gosh, what a difficult task.

Today when I went to the clinic to change the dressing, doctor open the dressing and there was a little bit of blood still flowing out. Sigh, I guess the wound must be really deep.

Tonight I need to wash hair somemore, I have no idea how am I going to do that. PY suggested that I go to salon and wash hair. I think that is a good idea. Will think about it.

I hope that my wound will heal by Saturday coz I have a makeup job on Sunday morning. I cant afford not to hold the brushes properly.

it was just weird

Boy boy and I were having dinner in Sushi Tei, we were seated in front of the sushi conveyer belt. While waiting for our last dish to be served, we saw a lady at the counter has some bad taste of fashion: polka dots shorts, transparent sleeveless top with black bra showing and a bit plus-size. Her back was facing us but from the side of her she was around my age.

Both of us were criticizing how bad the lady’s taste was, and being a plus-size, her big thigh was so obvious with her shorts, and her bucket-waist was also obvious with her transparent top. I am not discriminating plus-size people but the fashion sense of this girl. Some plus-size ladies dress very elegantly one ok. This is not the main topic.

While we were giggling and looking at the lady (she was at the counter quite long), the guy staff (the one who make sushi or whatever behind the conveyer belt) saw and maybe heard our conversation and he smiled at me. Then I was a bit malu already.

Boy boy didn’t notice the guy staff’s reaction and he kept on criticizing the lady. Then the guy staff looked at me and asked, “so, what’s your comment on it?” signaling the lady. My face straight away turned red and said, “no la, nothing”. Then that guy laughed. Dem paiseh (‘malu’) lar.

Boy boy didn’t know that the guy was talking to me and he still continue looking at the lady and comment. I was abit embarrased already coz that staff kept on listening to us condeming people.

When I told boy boy about it, he said I should have ask the guy back, “what’s your comment then?” You go ask him yourselves.

Resident Evil: Afterlife

I have been a small fan (not the die hard type) of the RE series, coz I love to watch Milla Jovovich kicks @$$. Actually I love to watch movies with a lead actress can kick @$$. So, I was eager to watch it, but due to unforeseen circumstances, I only got to watch it yesterday.

My parents and bro had watched the movie and told me that do not waste my money for it. Even though the ticket is RM6, it is not worth it. But me being a fan, I don’t care, still insisted that I watch, and I am glad that I did.

At the start of the movie, I got to see lots of Alice clones in action. Her body-hugging suit with her tied-back ponytail fits her character perfectly. I think there is no one can replace Milla as Alice, coz she IS Alice. Even after Milla gave birth, her body still is hot.

After that starting scene, the story started to slow down. But who the heck cares about the storyline. One thing that is disappointing to me is that she lost her T-virus ability, so she is back to normal human, cant do anymore terror terror stuffs. Hmm…..I wish she could get back her T-virus ability in the following series. However, Wiki said that Alice might still have the T-virus ability coz she has no injury after crashing from the plane à regeneration ability?

Then, there are some scenes that look like Matrix slow movement bullets-avoiding scenes. Even the unnamed Nemesis (the big guy with a mosterous axe) waved his axe has some slow movement to it. This Nemesis was really farnie lor, showed up for 10minutes then died liao. So lousy. Give Alice and Claire some monsters that could not be killed with a gun!!!

At the end credit, Jill Valentine made a short appearance. But she looked totally different from RE 3. This time she has blond long hair tie into a pony tail, which is totally different, I couldn’t recognize her at first.

Let’s hope the director, Milla’s husband wont take too long to release RE 5.

Grumps - Plaza Kelana

On a Sunday night, bro was lonely as dad n mum went for a dinner with friends. So Boy boy and I picked him up and went to Plaza Kelana for some porky affair. Plaza Kelana looks dark from the outside, but the parking space was brightly lit, and there were ample parking space, which I like.

While walking towards the Grumps, we noticed that there are a lot of restaurant here in this place. Maybe we can try out other restaurants next time. We entered Grumps through the back door and the restaurant was not packed. We found ourselves a cubicle. We decided to share the food since the pork knuckle is for 2 person.

Grumps Crispy Pork Knuckle (RM38.90). The skin was really crunchy, love crunchy skin. The pork has some porky taste, slight one, still tolerable coz the taste can be masked by the apple sauce.

Cheesy Crumbed Pork Loin (RM22.90). The pork loin were fried with bread crumbs, it was slightly crunchy. The pork loin meat was a bit tough though. We were looking for the cheese but couldnt find, dont know where it was. The mushroom sauce was really good and they gave lots of mushroom too, we dipped the plate clean.

Apple Crumble (RM8.90). The nuts on top of the apple crumble tasted a bit like 'lao fong' (masuk angin). If the nuts are more crunchier, it would be much better coz the apple fillings were very nice, sweet and slightly sour.

Not a cheap dinner, but it worth another visit to try out other dishes. I am eyeing on their Osso Busso, not many restaurant offer this.

The set lunch they offer is really value for money, can give it a try.

Nihon Kai - Old Klang Road

Wanted to go for Zanmai for cheap Japanese food but it is always hard to find parking during weekends. So we went to old klang road to try out this alternative which lots of foodies rave about.

It was 8.30pm and luckily we managed to get a parking. The place was packed to the brim and lucky again that someone left and we got a table inside. There are 6-7 tables along the corridor but I dont feel like eating Japanese food at the corridor, it just doesnt feel right.

Our order was taken quickly. Actually I aspect a long wait for the food, at least 30 minutes. But it came 20 minutes later, it made me really happy. Although the restaurant was packed, they still manage it really well.

Soft shell crab temaki (RM7). A normal temaki roll, nothing to shout about.

Kushi Katsu (RM10). Thought this look special, that was the reason I ordered this, but this failed me badly. The chicken was dry and tough, the coating was bland and there was not even a dipping sauce for it.

Wa Teishoku (RM25). Sashimi with tempura set. They gave thick slices of sashimi which was really fresh. At least the sashimi is thicken than Zanmai. The tempura was crunchy and fresh. Not bad.

Tenzaru Soba (RM13). Being influenced by Boy boy who was into cold soba recently, I ordered this. The soba was springy. It just that they didnt put the soba on top of ice cubes, if not, it would have taste better.

The offerings were not much, you cant compare the offerings with Zanmai. But with this type of pricing, indeed Nihon Kai is an economical Japanese food, and I couldnt complain much on the set dinner since the prices are cheap and affordable.

I always have pre-menstrual syndrome. During this time, my mood is always bad and body will ache too. All these symptoms still bearable until recently, the emotional symptoms have gone worse. I noticed that I couldn’t control my anger and emotion as well as last time.

Just last week, I was eager to look for houses and fixed a date with the agent to see house on first day of Raya. Boy boy not around (he was somewhere doing his ‘drifting’), so I ajak my dad to see it with me. Then he gave me all the cold remarks saying why need to buy condo, why buy second hand, buy some new house etc.

I was frustrated because he was the one who told me to lower down my budget and when I lower it down, I couldn’t find any landed property in PJ area for that kind of price, so I have to settle with condo. Then I controlled (I did control ok) my temper and said, “see only ma, not buying also”. My bro sensed my emotion, so he quickly conquered my statement, “yalor, see only ma”.

I was so down when I talked to Boy boy that night, the moment I said, “I don’t wanna buy house liao la, so troublesome”, my tears started come out. Then when he asked why, I lost control and said, “my dad la … sometimes he said this … sometimes he said that … then when I look at Setia Alam, you said so far … ask you go around the new houses then u mien hak hak (muka bengang)… then you don’t wanna marry me … what for buy a house … don’t wanna marry la … don’t wanna buy house la ...” I kept going and going and my tears flowing and flowing until I also don’t know what am I talking.

I admit la, I totally lost control during that time ok. Now when I think of the incident, I find myself so kelakar. And I don’t even know whether my mum overheard me crying or not, because it was just freaking loud. The next day morning both of my parents didn’t say anything.

Sigh, is just that I have tahan my emotions for so long (bearing in mind that boy boy don’t wanna get married until we buy a house, some more we didn’t save any money for buying a house, then cannot take out EPF account 2 money to buy joint-name house if we are not registered), lots and lots of factors bothering me and finally my volcano burst.

This is the first time that I raised my voice when I am crying and don’t know what am I talking about. I was choking like mad after that. Then finally after a few deep breathe, I calmed down. Boy boy just kept quiet all the way to let me settle down. He knows that if he says one more sentence, my tears and babbling wont ever stop.

Sigh, what to do when only one side has the initiation to do something? Cannot clap without both hands, you know. I am starting to get bored with this already. Bored of myself craving for marriage.

You know what, I finally got an answer from him and he said he will get married when he is 31 years old. Ok, at least I have an answer. He don’t want to get tied down so early, he still wanna go hang out with friends, go clubbing and see chicks. So you guys, don’t ask when am I going to get married, that’s the answer I am going to give you, another 3 years.

Continue with my PMS stories. This incident happened in LRT.

I was reading newspaper as usual. So this girl and her bf just finished shopping in Popular Book Fair, they were taking big plastic bags with books. The girl sat on my right. And she put her big tote bag on my right, which took up 1/3 of my seating space. Anger started to raise a bit already.

When a lady beside the girl left, her bf offer the place to another woman. So I thought he don’t want to sit. 5 minutes later, the woman on my left stood up and left. The bf waited a few more seconds then only he sat down. Which means that I was sandwiched between the couple.

Within 1 minute, the GF took out a book and asked the BF how to open it (it was wrapped in plastic), so the BF stretched his right hand across me, and whacked down my newspaper. Half of my newspaper dropped on my lap.

Having in midst of PMS-ing, I narrowed my eyes and showed my muka bengang, took back my newspaper and continue reading. I didn’t even stare at him, because if I stare, I would have scolded him. The BF saw my expression and immediately he said sorry. I kept quiet because I was freaking angry.

The GF is so stupid meh until don’t know how to unwrap the plastic ar? You in kindergarden is it? Go back home then unwrap la, why do you want to unwrap in the LRT??? Furthermore, after the BF unwrapped it and gave back to her (this time he was smart enough to pass the book in front of my newspaper, by not touching my newspaper), and she didn’t even read it. WTF?

They still wanna talk with me sandwiching in between. Please la, if you don’t talk to you BF for 10min, you can die is it??? Please be considerate a bit, if you guys cant separate from each other, take a cello tape and tape each other together la. Or don’t take public transport, drive yourselves there and do whatever mushy mushy thing in the car. LRT is a public transport for heaven sake! Please be considerate a bit, you jakun from kampung ar.

When we reached Taman Bahagia LRT station, the woman beside the GF left, so the GF touched the BF shoulder, and asked him to sit beside her. It is just another 1 minute to reach KJ LRT and you cant even stand another minute being apart???

Angela said I should have exchange my place with the BF so that the couple can be together. I was like no way since I sat at the place first and I don’t feel like moving and I am holding lots of things too. Ya, I am a devil when my mood is bad. I admit.

Road bully

Had freaky car incident last Friday.

I was on my way to pick up PY. I was waiting at a T-junction to turn left on to the LDP. Then this Camry came to my right, and blocked my right hand side view. I cant see the cars coming from right. So I decided to let him go out first.

Above is the map of the incident. The green box is my car and the purple one is the Camry (who is not suppose to line up there, that lane is for people who wanna make a right turn 0.1km before the junction). I suppose to follow the A route and this Camry suppose to follow the B route if he wanna make a left turn.

Then he went out, half way through, he wanna turn into my lane (the C route) and noticed that my car is blocking him. He waved at me. He WAVED at me (signaling that I am a bad driver). I was so angry until I waved him back (I have never ever initiate a fight before in my car). He was the one who tried to cut Q, and his skill was not good enough to cut out to the outer lane (B route), and he ate into my lane, and he freaking waved at me???? What nonsense!

Leaving me with no choice, I forcefully turned left hoping that no car will bang me. I should have just stayed there until he moved out.

After that, I kept on my right land, wanna do a U-turn. This Camry guy sped up and cut in front of me and he braked. This freaking fella went and BRAKE, he is really looking for a fight. But luckily I didn’t stick so near to him because I always keep a distance with the car in front especially I kind of expecting this guy to pull out some stunts.

So I followed him from behind. At one point, he kept left and I thought he wanted to go the KJ LRT station bus stop. So I sped up and keep to my lane. This fella sped up too and cut to my right and kept to my speed. I fast he fast, I slow he slow. He wanted me to look at him.

At one point I was so tempted to show my middle finger to him, but then I hold back. I drive normal and look in front, refuse to look at him, singing my song. Then I think he ‘beh song’ so he took off. Cis! Padan muka! Bedebah!

After he took off only I started to shiver in my car, thinking back the whole incident. What if he is the road bully, stop my car and bring out a parang? What if he purposely knocks the front of my car and claim that I knock him? What if???

Why don’t he pick someone of his own size? Why he has to bully a girl??? A real bastard he is. This uncle somemore fetching his wife and an old grandpa behind, why is he being a bastard? I curse him. Curse that his make the grandpa heart attack. Curse his camry crashed into a big tree and die! Oh, not die, crashed until he is paralysed or lost his limbs! What a road bully.

Mai Ramen Cafe - Jaya One

Went to Jaya One for lunch at 2pm on a Sunday, we sat in The Bee thought of dining some western food (some blogger blogged about it before), but the waitress said they only served food from the brunch menu. So when we take a look at the menu, only less than 10 items, it was mostly sausage, egg, sandwich, some breakfast options. They refer this as Brunch ar?? The prices are not cheap also. Disappointed, we went out from the restaurant.

Walked, walked and walked, and we saw this new opening, Mai Ramen. We went in and gave it a try.

Ton Katsu Ramen set (RM23.90). The ramen was so-so. The only thing I cannot tahan is the smell of the pork slices, the smell was so strong to the extent that I feel like vomitting when I look at it. Scare Boy boy says that I waste food, so I finished 3/4 of the bowl, tahan-ing the empoweing of pork smell.

The set comes with 3 pieces of gyoza, salad and a piece of chicken katsu. The gyoza was so-so, nothing special.

The chicken katsu was very very dry, even the mayo dipping has no taste. I tabao 2/3 of it.

Saba Yaki Bento Set (RM27.90). I took a bit of the grilled fish, but it has fishy taste. To boy boy, it was acceptable, but I just cant stand a tint of fishy taste. Sashimi was satisfying, big pieces too.

Boy boy's set came with miso soup and chawanmushi.

The price was consider economic but I dont think they can survive with the quality of ramen they served. Since you are naming your restaurant with a 'ramen' word, I am expecting that your ramen is really really delicious, but sadly, it wasnt.

SS20 Fish Head Noodles - Damansara Kim

Since boy boy is a fan of fish head noodles, I brought him to this shop (recommended by lots of bloggers before). It is suppose to be a stall along the road, but they have shifted to the opposite shoplots, which is good because it is air-conditioned.

I was expecting a crowd since the blog posts written that it is always full house, but it was quite empty, around 1.30pm on a saturday. I am guessing that it is full house during lunch hours on weekdays.

Soya Bean Cincau Ice (RM3). The soya bean series is recommended by the bloggers as the owner's wife has a stall selling soya bean and taufufa somewhere in TTDI (I hope I get this info correctly. I ordered this, indeed this was a refreshing drink on a hot day. Even with the brown sugar at the bottom, it tasted just nice, not overly sweet. It doesnt taste dilute at all. Love the soya too.

Boy boy wanted to order soya jelly but it was out of stock. So make sure you guys go there and try out their soya series.

Haruan Fish Head Noodles, with milk, Lai Fun (RM9.80). Boy boy ordered the steam fish version without hesitation, it has been his style every single time. He is a person who like to eat fish, and lick the bone clean, he is like a cat. He said that this was ok, he still prefers the one in Cheras, nothing can beat that wor.

Soong Fish Head Noodles, Fried, Lai Fun (RM8). I am not a fan of anything fish, but as long as it is fresh and less bones, I would make an exeption. I think I ordered the correct one as the fish fillet served has not even one single bone in it (the menu did state that is 'less bone'). Happily eating the fish. I love the milky soup with lots of ginger. To me, the dish was acceptable to me la, coz I really seldom eat fish head noodles (less than 5 times in my whole life). I finished the whole bowl myself. Woop!

Seldom can find fish head noodles in PJ area, if you are craving for one, then this shop is the best option to go to. I will come back here again, no doubt with my family.

Flaming Steamboat - Setapak Platinum Walk

Colleagues organized a buka puasa buffet. At first, they planned to go for RM60 buffet in a hotel, but PY and I think that it is a bit expensive, I would rather save the money for Tao Cuisine Japanese Buffet. So, the organizer, Azie found another cheaper alternative which is steamboat buffet. Since PY and I are a fan of steamboat, we agreed.

This Flaming Steamboat in Sunway just opened a branch in Platinum Walk. So we went there. It is priced at RM22.80+ include drinks.

We reached there around 6.30pm and the crowd has not arrived yet, we were seated along the corridor and in front of the restaurant. Knowing that this area has a lot of people walking back, we requested to switch to inside and the guy said everywhere is full. Azie booked the place one week ago and yet they gave us this types of tables. Reluctantly sat on it. So, throughout whole night, people kept knocking on PY and my chair, my anger was flaming!

The offerings were not much. We took what we can.

While waiting for the buka puasa time, the restaurant people kept on coming to switch on our cooker. We turned it down because it is not buka puasa time yet, then few times, these people came and on it. So, I stopped the lady boss and said we know how to do it, dont worry. So she backed off. We are not hooligans ok, we know how to control a cooker. Ravi joked that the workers' KPI is to 'on' the cooker.

There are 2 types of soups: Tomyam and chicken stock. Both sux big time! The tomyam does not even have tomyam taste and smell! Even the packet tomyam stock is much nicer. I wonder how they survive with these type of taste. I think the Sunway shop has no fight for the other steamboat competitors nearby, not even on par. Seriously, if you buy the instant tomyam paste or chicken stock, you are 100x better than this restaurant.

When I wanna take the orange juice, I pressed the container and it splashed out lots of high velocity orange juice on my pants, my hands and my shirt. Super pissed! I was wearing my Fossil watch ok (bought from US). I was not the only one kena, mind you, I saw lots of people kena also.

It was not a pleasant dining experience there, and I would never ever go back there nor recommending people to go there, not even the sunway branch.

Suyin ajak us to eat Snow Flake which is famous for its Taro Balls. Since I have heard about that and has been eager to try it, we agreed to tag along.

It was around 4pm and when we stepped into the shop, it was fully packed! Within 1 minute, we managed to find a table. Suyin and I proceeded to the counter and I let her to do the ordering. It is a bit confusing on the menu, you can to choose your toppings some sort of things.

Taufufa with sweet potato and taro balls.

The bestseller in hot form. If you dont wanna eat ice, you can try out this hot version. But the ice version is much better.

Snowflake soya series with red beans, nut and some sort of jelly. Love the ice that has soya taste. Other than that, it was normal.

Snowflake Bestseller (RM5.50) that consist of grass jelly, taro balls and grass jelly ice. The ice below tasted just like normal ice, not like the soya ice above. But I love to chew on the taro balls though, QQ like that. It was quite full after finishing the whole bowl. I wanna try the real version in Taiwan later.

You can choose to add the creamer if you want.

Had a gathering with Sharon and Aifen in Sunway Giza recently. We decided to dine at Cravings, which is quite famous. We reached around 6.45pm and wanted to sit inside (it looked very empty) but the waitress told us that upstairs and downstairs were fully reserved. We have no choice but to sit outside and hoping that no one smokes beside us.

The food was served 15 minutes later. Half way through the meal, I noticed that my french fries that I ordered didnt come, so I chased the waitress. Then another 15 minutes later, we have finished our food and the fries still didnt arrive and I chased the waitress again. Then another 15minutes later, it didnt come (we waited for freaking 1 hr and the fries didnt arrive), when we decided to call for bill, the waitress came and said the fries is coming.

Then another 10 minutes later only the fries came, we have finished our drinks and had to order second round again. I was freaking mad. I think the kitchen staff overlooked my order. And when I chased them, they lined me up along the freaking long Q of orders. What logic is that???? The waitress apologized when she came with the bill.

But I have the admit the Curly Fries (RM7.90) were freaking good!

Wow, finally I manage to have time to write about movies. I have been watching movies every Wednesday for the past 1 month: Predators, Inception, Salt, Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Tekken and Expendables and I just don’t have time to write about it.

So I gonna start again with The Stool Pigeon.

My dad’s verdict: Hou Tai (nice)
My bro’s verdict: ok le
My mum: yeee….so violent.

When we talk about Chinese movies, my dad is always the one who wanted to watch. Since he loves ‘zheng yan’ where Nick Cheung and Nicholas Tse acted, he was so enthusiastic to watch this movie. I pulled Boy boy and watched it.

Both movies have the same director, Dante Lam. I think Dante Lam wanted to create another award-winning (or should I say multi-awards-winner?) character for Nick Cheung. After watching the movie, I can say that Dante Lam did it again! Nick Cheung really did portray the character really especially the part when he lost his wife as well as the part when he was stucked between whether to help the stool pigeon or police. Now, let’s hope that Nick Cheung can repeat his 6-awards winning streak.

At the same time, I want Nicolas Tse to win too! I was expecting his character to be macho and ‘yao yeng’ but he looks exactly the same as the Bodyguard and Assassin movie except the clothing. He kena whacked like mad in the movie. Sigh. When will he acts some macho movie lei (like the Police Story 4)? I want to see his handsome look la (with his hair).

The girl, Kwai Lun Mei reminds me of Cindy Tey (the first Malaysia Dream Girl winner), same eyes, same faceshape, same features! Kwai Lun Mei at first does not looks appealing to me, but towards the end part, where she was fighting for her life, she was cool and she did portray her character really well.

The movie was not so violent lar. It was slashing here and there, blood here and there. I think my mum didn’t watch Shinjuku Incident where the violent-ness was 100x than this movie. But this movie’s violent scenes were enough to scare the girl beside me, she making farnie noises during some of the scenes. Sigh, why am I always seated together with these type people.

My verdict: 7/10 (8.5 for the acting)

Haeun Khon @ Amcorp Mall

Boy boy doesnt like Korean so I seldom ajak him to go and eat Korean food. There was this day when he said he wanted to go to this Korean restaurant in Amcorp Mall where his colleague praises the food and its kimchi. Of course I wouldnt say NO to Korean food. There we went together with Nikky and Suyin to Amcorp Mall.

The restaurant was tiny and the space was quite tight, it was very stuffy too! No fan and no aircon. I was sweating like mad half way through my meal. When we entered, there was only 3 tables occupied, then another 15 minutes later (7pm), the restaurant was packed to the brim!

The menu was quite limited and they have a mixture of Korean food set and Japanese food set. Since they are famous for kimchi, all of us went for Korean food set.

Do Sot Pi Pim Bab (RM14.90). You can choose between hot pot and the normal one (less RM2). My bibimbap came last. I quite like the bibimbap, and you cant do no wrong with it. When it has slightly burned taste on the rice, super love it (That's why I like claypot chicken burned rice).

The set came with 2 pieces of apple, a bowl of soup, a plate of kimchi, pancake and tofu. The kimchi doesnt have the 'kam kam' (orangy) taste compared to other Korean restaurant. That's why I can eat this version of kimchi. For Suyin, she said the kimchi was not spicy enough.

Bulbogi Jungshk beef (RM15.90). Nikky ordered this, it smells nice. He said it was ok.

Kimchi Jjikeh (RM15.90). Suyin added in all the kimchi sauce but still said not spicy enough.

Dak Bulbogi (RM14.90). Boy boy ordered this chicken soup and he said it was not nice, coz it was sweet. But after he finished the glass noodle, I took a sip of the soup and it tasted very very nice. I regretted not ordering this dish. Boy boy dont like sweet soup (i.e corn soup), so he said it was not nice.

I will bring my family back here to eat economy Korean food. It is located at 3rd Floor Lot 336, beside McD.

Sri Paandi Banana Leaf Rice - Section 11

After a massage session (chinese traditional tui na), it was already 9pm. So, we went to nearby Sri Paandi for banana leaf rice. It has been years since I come to this restaurant (the last time I came was with my ex-colleagues during lunch) and I love the tosai masala here.

That day I was craving for banana leaf rice. Once I seated down, I got lots of stares from the customers nearby. I think it was because I just finish my 'kap kun' (the round round bottle thingy sux to yr body and leave red purple mark on my shoulder and back) and I was wearing sleeveless. But who the heck cares, I didnt bother them.

We were served with huge amount of rice, 4 vege dishes and papadom. I like the curry lady fingers, cabbage and bittergout. The cucumber dish tasted sour. After that, I poured lots of curries on my rice, love my rice wet.

We ordered a plate of fried chicken and this was dem good. The coating was very tasty and crunchy. This chicken tasted much better than another famous banana leaf rice in ss2 (located uphill).

What a satisfying and full meal.

I have another banana leaf rice on the top of my list (the one in Bangsar) which Azzah has recommended me. After the first time she brought me there, I am addicted to it ever since. I didnt go back because it is very difficult to find parking. After that day out with Nicole in Bangsar, I found out that I can park my car in BVII and walk over to this restaurant. That's my strategy.

Pie In The Sky @ SS2

Dad and bro noticed this restaurant when they send me to Guzheng class. It is located at the same row as Island Cafe and McD. It is located at first floor so it is a bit hard to get notice. So after my hair treatment in e3 salon, boy boy and I went to this place.

It was 12pm on a Sunday and when we went in, there were only 2 table occupied. After awhile they left, then the restaurant was empty except us, until 1pm when people starts to come in (around 3 tables).

Chocolate Temptation (RM7.90). The drink was a bit diluted.

Complementary bread from the house. Must eat it when it is served hot. The bread was really hard when it was cold. Nothing special about this bread though.

Chicken Mushroom Pie (RM4.50 @50% off). They are having 50% off on all pies. They offer several other pies like beef pie, vegetable pie etc. The chicken and mushroom was really good but if I am eating a pie, I would taste heavily on the pie crust. The crust was nothing to shout about, it is just normal a bit jelak after eating the whole pie.

Tropicale Pizza (RM10). We asked which pizza is the famous one, so the waiter recommended this. The outlook looks really nice and it smells nice too. Lots of ingredients, similar to Hawaiian pizza. But the taste was bland. The pizza crust was the thick one, so it was not crunchy.

Apple Pie (RM10.90). When this came, we looked at each other and said 'the same crust again?'. Oh god, their crust was not nice lor. But the apple caramel in it was really tasty, eaten together with the ice cream, it was superb.

The foreign waiter offered a very good service, he was polite, smiley and recommend dishes to all the tables. When I was standing at the payment counter, I looked at the kitchen and didnt see the boss there (i knew that they have a boss because I read from a blogger's website stating the boss serves the customers), they are all foreign workers. Since you are new opening, why not you try to mingle around with the customers?

The shop has very limited selection, 3 pasta dishes, 6 pizza selection, 5 different pies (the numbers are approximately). Just go there and try the pie. If I were you, I will forgo the pizza.

Gelare Cafe @ Cineleisure

Before we headed back home, we thought of having dessert at Tin Pan Gor Gor since that day was really a hot day. But, we passed by this shop at cineleisure and decided to give it a try. So happened that they are having promotion of 20% off all items.

Notice that my neck was quite empty. (Hint: can I have a necklace as our 8th anniversary pressie?)

Chocolate Chip Waffle with 2 scoop of ice cream: Swiss chocolate caramel and cookes & cream (RM22.90 minus off 20% discount). The waffle has lots of chocolate chip in it and I quite like it. The ice cream texture couldnt compete with Gellatisimo in Mid Valley and New Zealand island. This version has a softer texture and lack of taste actually. Should give me bigger scoop of ice cream.

The staff was really helpful, she kept on asking us to try the variety of their ice cream before we decide which one we want.

Marche Movenpick @ The Curve

I wanna go to Popular to buy Guide to Taipei, so we went to e@curve. Boy boy remembered that Nikky mentioned about the delicious mushroom in Marche, so we went in. It was few years since I stepped into this restaurant, but my family kept on coming here to eat the stir fried mushroom. Not to mention that Marche has CIMB 10% discount (woot!).

Last time, we were ushered to our place (few years ago ya), but this time around, once we were inside, we were allowed to choose any place to sit. No need to mention that you can walk freely to choose your choice of food from each counter.

Mushroom soup (RM8.50). This mushroom soup was really really thick, it was totally different from Campbell cream of mushroom. They blend different types of mushroom together and make it so thick, like Nestum or Oats. Boy boy said it was nice, but to me I dont quite like super thick mushroom soup. Hehe.

Rosti with raw sausage (RM7.50+ RM9.90). Then we went for this rosti. The last time I ate it was really crunchy, but this time around, it was just so-so only. The lamb sausage tasted quite good though.

After that, we were quite full, so we headed off to go shopping. Will bring boy boy back to try out other stuffs.

Flavola - Le Meridien Hotel

Was having training over the weekends a month ago in Le Meridian KL. So other than the buffet lunch at Latest Recipe, we got to dine in this Italian restaurant known as Flavola.

First dish was Antipasti that consisted of Insalata Caprese (god knows what it is), smoked salmon and octopus. The Insalata Caprese (tomato with cheese) doesnt taste as bad as it looks though, still eatable. The Smoked Salmon thingy was fresh. The Octopus thingy looks geli, even though it was fulled of garlic taste (i am a super garlic-lover), I still couldnt bring myself to finish it.

A variety of breads and bread sticks for you to choose before the main course.

Prima Piati: Flavola pizza and spaghetti aglio olio pepperoncino. The pizza crust was thin and crunchy at the end. Although it was just basic cheese and tomato, I find it quite tasty. Ate quite a number of pieces.

Spaghetti was plain, tasted like Maggi Mee Goreng. I assumed this comment is an insult to the chef, but I wonder whether he has tasted our local maggi mee goreng or not, it tasted the same.

Secondi: BBQ grilled butter cod. A huge chunk of cod fish was served with some sauce. When this dish arrived, I was 3/4 full already. Not a fan of fish, so I ate 1/4 of the fish only. The presentation was not really good, how to eat a huge chunk of fish like that.

Italian Gelato. Really nice.

For me, I wouldnt pay for these type of food, not that it was not good, but it was just nothing special to shout about. There are nicer Italian restaurant around.
