Hailam Kopitiam - SS2

Chinese New Year eve, we were looking for lunch in SS2 as we need to buy some 'nien foh' (CNY gifts) somewhere there also. Settled in Hailam Kopitiam, hoping that this kopitiam is somewhat different from other kopitiams that are too commercialize. That day was quite packed, guess most of the hawker stalls were closed on that day.

Boy boy's Assam Laksa (RM6.50). He was so disappointed by the look and the taste of it. Normally, he love assam laksa with prawn paste ('har kou'), but this has none. We wondered whether Hailam people eat assam laksa withouth har kou or what? Anyhow, assam laksa origin was not from Hailam also. Plus, they served with normal meehoon instead of 'nai fun'. Boy boy felt totally conned by this dish. Anyhow, he wasnt full at all. Poor him.

I ordered Hannanese Chicken Chop (RM10.50). The chicken texture was nice and a bit crispy, and it was quite big piece. However, the fries and the coleslaw was so little, showed that they are sooo stingy. The sauce somewhat tasted like sweet and sour sauce, not the typical hailam sauce that was served in Kluang Station. So, I was like eating sweet and sour chicken in western style. Hehe.

If I were to visit this kopitiam again, I would order something hailam and not the local cruisine as the assam laksa really was a let down.
